Wasn’t the tape that came with the rock guards 3M double-sided?Mine did the same thing. Ended up pulling them off, replacing the tape with quality 3m double sided automotive tape, and using a heat gun to mold a curve into them before reinstalling. Between molding them and prepping them with isopropyl alcohol to ensure a good bonding surface I have not had any issues since.
So you removed the tape that came with the rock guards and replaced with the tape you had prior to installation?I'll have to check mine........ I use some very high strength tape in my business. I can send you a couple feet of tape if you want.
I used the tape that came with the guards. I'm going to check the guards when I'm back with the car. Double face tape comes in many configurations and strengths. I have shelves full of binders with double face tapes and specifications from different manufacturers. The tape that's supplied with the guards and just about anything else is valued engineered. No different than the cars themselves...... there is always stronger parts. Some of the 3M VHB tapes would be a big upgrade. So you removed the tape that came with the rock guards and replaced with the tape you had prior to installation?
What number/width VHB tape did you use?Even the VHB tape started to pull away until I added another layer to fully fill the gap between splash guard and fender.
