Your own words OP from post #26.
This is correct. LMS is wrong. There was no audible knock. I told them that when I went to Alternative Auto for dyno day that the owner that did the pulls thought there was possibly predetonation and that I should contact LMS. I did contact them on the phone and email. I emailed my salesman a photo of the dyno. They said it was probably the way the dyno was set up at Alternative Auto. For 11-14, not 15 up. I said I was concerned about the possibilty of pre-detonation and that is could hurt the engine.
The problem occurred from a factory part failing in the engine, nothing tune related, nothing that the customer did himself, just bad luck with bad gas PERIOD. You cant get garbage gas and expect a 11:1 Engine to live with stock parts.
So here goes, customer went to a dyno day. The dyno operator said to the customer its knocking excessively. He made one more pull and still heard knock (WHICH WE VALIDATED THE CUSTOMER STORY IT IS TRUE). We seen the graph the second run has spots in the graph that had 40 HP difference. Why because the Knock sensor was pulling as much as it could out. But if the gas was literally 87 Octane or not 93 this stuff happens.
Now the customer came back to us and we re-dynoed it and low and behold the factory knock sensor was actually adding timing? Why cause this was several days or week later and the customer had been through the bad tank of gas and it was doing what it was supposed to with correct gas. And no there was no drops in the graph or sounds of knocking when it returned. But unfortunately the damage was already done. Read any car that requires premium gas owners manual and you will see it is required to run premium! Anything other than this can RESULT IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE.
I'm sorry you want to blame Livernois for all this nonsense but in this case we have a smoking gun verifying that there was audible knock from another shop. This happens places get bad gas. I dont know what to tell you we have hundreds of these tunes and these kits out there with no issues.

Look we did what we think is the right thing to do gave the customer a smoking deal on the engine because of what happened. Stop with the nonsense.

Also this car has made over 600 RWHP now and will most likely make even more we are setting the thing to run close to 8000 RPM.
And we are going to make sure the customer drives this car before its released to ensure the drive ability is dam near perfect.

Now, I'm angry. This is an absolute lie. Completely untrue. I never said I heard any pre-detonation. What I said throughtout this thread is the truth. I cannot believe this. WOW, I have tried to maintain a calm attitude. This shop is dishonest. I am smoking hot.

Also, incorrect. It came in to LMS with the same tank of gas it dyno'd with.
Apparently LMS decided to change the facts to justify the damage. In their poll above they say they believe the original ring gap was the culprit, not the gas. Good grief, what contradictions.

You could’ve datalogged the dyno pull and street concerns to verify. Oh wait, shit. No you couldn’t have without dumping more money on a crap system and buy a capable tuning device.

Feel soooo bad for you man. Just a raw situation all around. Months of time, and well over 10K for barely 600 whp... ruff like sandpaper tp.

Your original livernois Dyno was only till 6800 and got 564. Hmmmm then bumped it to 7300 after the cai and shirt block to make 601. Don’t look like they did anything to tune but raised limter. Livernois has become a joke now

I’m sure I missed some of the whole picture, however, if Lidio said he thought there was something amiss, I would completely trust him. I know him well and know his work. He’s been doing this and blowers for MANY years. He’s always been at the forefront of supercharging in the past. He knows his tuff extremely well.

Good luck!

Only way this can get any worse is that this motor fails after warranty period, OP opens it up to find a bone stock bottom end in it instead of a built motor.

I think someone mentioned this earlier...but why the heck was the gas not tested then?

Either you are lying or LMS is lying to cover up the fact they should have tested it.

Get your car back and be done. When your in the UP let me know if you can swing by Iron Mountain area and we can take out my car, same Magnuson, 3.1 pulley, different CAI, Lund tuned with an MT-82 and see how they compare.

Tim
That would be great!

For the record. It is not my intention to trash LMS or anyone. I want my car back running good. I agreed to pay for the fix. We do not know what caused the problems. LMS is incorrect in their long post about speaking with me about the knock. I also realize these threads can really hurt a company. I also will not have LMS say things that are not so. I guess the words lying imply intent. I know the LMS's quote is wrong. But, it is entirely possible that something was misconstrued. Again, this thread was about opinions on what happened to the engine. I think the topic has been thoroughly discussed. My son told me some companies have suffered a lot from threads. This is not my intention. There are some nice folks there and I do not want to hurt them. Everyone makes mistakes and my biggest complaint was the communication and time. I think they are competent and have a proven track record with other folks.

Any word when you will be picking up the car? What kind of warranty does this motor come with? I'm not completely familiar with the Magnuson setups, did you have a specific number you figured the car would make? If it was me, I'd get the car back and if not completely satisfied, have another tuner tune the car and go that route. Is the car still on the stock throttle body?
