Spoken as a representative from Ford Marketing Department, thank you! My point was not that Ford does`nt have the right to package items and options as they choose to but the irony that other Manufacturers don`t require one to go "all in" simply to get a Base Radio that includes the Sirius/XM feature. After the initial free 6 month trial period, the Buyer can re-new their subscription or the service is discontinued. I`m well aware that its not cost effective to make every individual Option a stand alone feature but rather group them into packages (but) a very inexpensive software module incorporated into even their Base Radio would have been appreciated.
Sirius/XM isn't a software module, my friend. It's hardware plus an additional antenna. That said, the documentation IS confusing. At one place in the dealer guide, it suggests that Sirius/XM is included as standard equipment with the base stereo. In the options list, it's only listed on EB Premium and GT Premium models.

From the dealer guide:

4.2" LCD screen in the center stack for audio/ entertainment/phone information/rear view camera
– Provides display at eye level for the radio and other features/settings:
• CD/SiriusXM/Aux/Phone/Menu/Sound/Clock

Notice that this mentions the 4.2" screen instead of the 8" touchscreen (MyFord Touch) that's standard equipment on EB premium and GT premium models.

Ok, "Hardware" versus "Software", lets talk about the dreadful extra costs involved. It can`t add much expense to the Base Radio assembly as I`ve pointed out thats included in all Hyundai and Kia Vehicles starting with an MSRP of 13K. The extra needed Antenna? Maybe the little painted color Nodule on the Trunk Deck of the 2015 Mustang but on my 2013 C-Max Hybrid, the same Shark Fin Antenna is used for both the Radio and Satellite transmission. The number crunchers at Ford just needed to skimp a little more like eliminating any Fabric color choices other then Ebony Black.

I haven't in the 2 years I've had my '13, but I can see certain ppl wanting to follow their sports/news/etcc and only being able to get it with satellite coverage.

Can't tell you how many times I pull up next to someone in the morning and they have talk radio so GD loud with the windows up I can hear everything...

Yes, I agree. In fact, in my field of work, most companies add things like this to their products but deactivate them so that you don't even know they are there half the time. It's likely cheaper overall to add the Sirius/XM hardware to every car coming off the line than it is to send one car down the line that needs it and another past that section that doesn't. They can even charge a "hidden" cost right into their pricing of the base vehicles to cover the cost, plus some for doing so.

I would not be surprised if the options are flat out wrong and that Sirius/XM really is available on every model. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait and see. It could also be a fairly easy dealer add-on, especially if they only need to add the antenna, but still possibly do-able to add the hardware box necessary too.

The base dash has a Sirius button on it. What I'd like to know is what that means. Does the base radio come with NO Sirius subscription at all (that would be fine), or does it mean it's "Sirius ready" and an expensive part is still needed? Any info on this?

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point. As I mentioned previously in this thread, the dealer guide and ordering options don't quite line up correctly. I would suspect that the ordering guide *may* be wrong on this and that you can get Sirius/XM without getting a Premium model. That said, I'm not 100% sure and don't want to get anyones hopes up. If not, I would hope that this a fairly easy DIO (Dealer Installed Option).

As you mentioned, there is a Sirius/XM button on the base radio and the dealer guide corroborates this as well.

I`ll tell you exactly what the Sirius Button on the Radio means.....NOTHING! On my my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback that came (without) Sync which also had the Standard Base Radio, it too had the Sirius Button but had no Sirius Hardware or Software installed. The same Base Radio in fact (did) have the Sirius included for Canadian destined Fiesta`s but not for U.S. buyers. No doubt, Ford will offer the Sirius to Canadian buyers and delete it in the 2015 Mustang for U.S. buyers. Seems fair to me!

There is no such thing as an fairly easily installed "DIO" Dealer Installed Option for upgrading the Satellite Radio (Sirius) that would`nt cost a small fortune. Just the hourly Labor Charge to remove the Radio from the Dash, the cost for the internal components, and the labor to re-install the Unit afterward would be prohibitive. I just accepted the fact with my 2011 Ford Fiesta. Every time I hit the Sirius Satellite Button on the Radio, I got an error message on the Screen saying Satellite Radio Component Not Available.

Base doesn't have a Sirius button

Guess that solves that mystery unlike the Sirius Button that (was) on the Base Radio of the 2011 Ford Fiesta as I mentioned previously.

There's a Sirius button here: Seems to be in place of the Mute button on Phil's picture.

The mystery deepens.

So others don't have to look through all those photos in the linked thread.
