Quick question. Has anyone installed a CJ Pony parts X Pipe (or any X pipe) and checked the decibel level? Reason I ask is I am stationed in Germany where we have to be under a certain decibel level to pass inspection.

It's only a few dB over stock. You won't have a problem passing inspection.

It will be a lot louder depending on your aftermarket exhaust. If your mufflers are still stock you'll be fine.

For now I'm leaving the stock mufflers. Just want to save weight and add a little sound.

You'll get that. It's raspier than I want but you can at least hear the exhaust when driving (windows up or down).

How far away and what RPM? I can't tell you what the CJ is but we can go out an measure our X-Pipe if you give us more details on how you want it measured.

Sub-Moa correct me if I'm wrong; two feet level from exhaust tip and 45° angle (out) at half the redline (7000 rpm would be 3500 rpm).

@Sub-Moa
Just got back from vehicle registration on base and I had one of the inspectors test my car with their decibel meter by regulation and it's 100.3
I have the FRPP X-pipe and Roush quad tip (block-off plate removed) mufflers. I'm in Germany too.

Hope this helps.

Sorry it took so long but according to our phone DB app our J&M SS X-pipe with all stock exhaust at 3500 RPM, 2 feet away, 45 degrees came in at 86.7-87.2 DB.

Should be fine with just the J&M X pipe, or any X or H pipe for that matter. I originally put a Roush Exhaust on my GT, and it sounded good, but I wanted something more aggressive so I bought a J&M X-pipe ($149 shipped I believe). It was the best quality and priced X pipe anywhere in that price range, and it made the car sound significantly better, I get compliments on it all the time. It should sound great with just the stock mufflers as well. I wish I had done the X pipe with the stock exhaust first, just to hear the car with that setup, though I would have still added the Roush because I love the race car loud sound. :)

Here's a video/sound clip of our resonator delete X-Pipe with the rest of the exhaust stock. We ran it at 3500 RPM roughly 2 feet away at a 45 degree angle from the tailpipe. The decibel level came in at 87 db with the stock exhaust.
