Nobody put snow tires on a mustang.
Umm...I do. Have DD'ed my Mustang for 5 years all year long.

Looks like this person does too.

Same question here. Just learned my car has been built and shipping in the next two weeks. Stop with the 'why'questions and please just give a legit response to the original question. Thanks.
Simply because you're also in Naperville, I'd love to see your car when you get it.

Ford uses 295 width (I think 35 aspect) Pirelli Sottozeros on the GT350s. They had a whole rack of them at the prototype pilot plant.

The first test mule spy shots posted here were running those tires.

Thanks for the response. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but the 295 width would work on BOTH the front and rear wheels? The rear wheels are half an inch wider than the front. The Shelby supplement guide by Ford shows:

GT350
295/35R19 front, 305/35R19 rear

Edit: of course I see that Pirelli makes 305 width winter tires for *20* inch rims... but not 19-inch.

A 295 will fit just fine on an 11" wheel. That tiny difference in tire wall will make not a single difference. I run 285/35-19's in the summer and my winter tires are 245/45-19. I don't change my tune/speedo

Yeah a 295 would fit fine on an 11". Remember, 300 mm is ~ 12" ;).

Wow, your winter tires are 245? I do not know enough about tires, but that sounds MUCH narrower. If a 245 fits a standard GT, then it sounds like the 295 would be ok on the GT350.

I contacted Bridgestone and they were no help in finding sizes that match.

I contacted Pirelli, and they referred me to this tire:

Can't find it anywhere else so far, and $600/each (!!!).

For those of you in the desert with dry but cold conditions, I'm using the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3. I'm really impressed with these tires so far. The performance is still there but with the added safety. My summer tires below 60 degrees are rock hard and even after running them a while they don't get properly warm enough to be safe IMO.

Yep, I run 245's on my factory 9" wheels from my 2011 Brembo car. The factory tires were 255. I run 285's all around on 9.5" wheels in the summer.

Blizzak makes a LM60 in a 275/45/19. Can anyone please give their perspective on whether that would be pushing it on the 11 inch rear rim? Thinking yes but looking for anyone that has potentially gone this much thinner....

Thoughts?

FYI, you actually want narrower tires for winter if you'll actually be driving in the snow. More force on the ground since contact patch is smaller, as well as rolling through snow better since cross-sectional area is smaller.

I get the physics behind why having a narrower tire footprint is advantageous in the snow, but I am just not up to speed on the width of the tire vs. width of the rim. i.e., in my mind, the worry is that there would be a gap between the rubber and the edge of the rim with a narrower tire. This is not the case?

And thanks for chiming in.

Well, you don't want to put a narrower tire than recommended on a wide rim. That's what the "stanced" look is, and it is stupid and unsafe. Most tires have a recommended rim width and a range of about 1.5" that you can mount safely on. Wider or narrower than that range and you will stress the sidewall in the direction it was not meant to be stressed in. If you look at a given tire on Tire Rack, under specs, you can see the recommended rim width and the width range.
