So my windshield cracked last Thursday.... A small pebble must have hit it during my morning commute to work. Over the course of the day when it went from 45 degrees to 65 degrees this crack developed... Was such a lovely surprise when I left work.

I will be getting the windshield replaced either Wednesday or Friday. $510 for the windshield with an estimated 4hrs labor to install... :frusty:

Wow! Your impact is a bit more severe then mine... Mine is that tiny white speck you see in the first picture... I am certainly not impressed with this "acoustic" glass that is used on the 15.

I had been very impressed with the lack of cracks until now. I have has 10 -12 strikes that have left little white chip marks. Most from some track time I did. This was a large rock that sounded like a gunshot when it hit. Scared the crap out of me...

I have had strikes as well and just like you had been impressed with the lack of star patterns. My 2010 had 4 star pattern strikes within a 6 month stretch on the same commute. But it has amazed me that after all of that a tiny pebble that barely left a mark managed to crack the glass. In my case it must have been the perfect impact and conditions.

I do as well but still have a $250 deductible. Not bad but still an inconvenience... :tsk:

What a nightmare

That sucks but it can be replaced easily.

Check with your insurance. They have special clauses for windshields and deductibles are much lower or often $0$

Mine cracked when the car was just 3 weeks old! And now just a couple weeks ago it cracked again! 2nd windshield replacement! I wonder if these windshields are being made cheaper (not as strong)? Both of mine had the impact area in the black strip on the passenger side. The current crack also grew afterward. The impact sound was really not very loud at all - it seemed like it didn't take much to crack it!

I had it replaced at Safelite after the 1st one for a $250 deductible. They were able to order a new factory oem part. Now I think I am going to up my insurance to a zero deductible, I cant afford to keep paying like this.

Yep, I got the 0$$$.
Same here. No deductible and no penalty...... They (ins co) usually send the guy to my wife's work and they do it right there!

Unfortunately we've had this done probably 6 times in the last 5 years.

Some states have laws where windshield claims are $0 and some have to pay the deductible.

Unfortunately, where windshield cracks happen all too often, in HI, we don't have $0 windshield claims. :(
