Window wiper light on dash -> sensor?

Hey guys,

2021 stang GT w 8000 miles. The window wiper dash light has come on and stayed on w only 8000 miles. Fluid is full, what's the deal? Any issue w mustangs and this sensor?

I have this same problem. It will come on if I hit the brakes hard and stay on for weeks at a time, then randomly go away and come back the next time I have to brake hard. Or this is how it seems to be. It’s very aggravating. The fluid is completely topped off.

had issues similar to this with an audi. turns out the fluid used plugged up the sensor. you guys arent using rain-x are you? thats what plugged up mine had to take out the sensor and clean it.

Yup!!! Same here. So annoying, seeing that yellow light on. Sometimes, I think its traction control lol

I came across this issue on a BMW last week. Fluid was full but light was on. Turns out there was a bulletin stating silicone additives or washer fluid containing silicone can cause this - the sensor uses capacitance of the fluid to tell if it’s full, and the silicone coats the tank causing a misreading. I flushed the tank 2 times without a change. Bulletin said to get ‘silicone remover’ and put in tank with tap water, let it sit 24 hours. I can’t overstate how skeptical I was. This absolutely worked. So if this is the issue, draining and refilling will not do it, you gotta get the silicone out completely. RainX contains silicone, among other brands.

I’ll have to see if I can find out what is in the silicone remover. Soap won’t hurt anything, so it’s worth a try.

I had this happen on my prior 2016... same symptoms, washer tank was always full and the washer nozzles worked fine. The warranty repair was to replace the pump /sensor assembly as seen in chef jpd's image.

The "BMW" fix sounds like it's a possibility that could be explored.

Also check to make sure the harness connector to the pump is totally secure, pushed on all the way.
