Just noticed today while filling up gas that between the trunk and the left side where it meets the body there is a white mark that appears to be under the clear coat. Tried running my nail over it and can't feel any grooves which is why I think it is under the clear coat.

Just wondering if anyone else has this or knows what it is and the best way to fix this. I attached pictures also

THANKS!

Yea it's not the little dust you see all around that's pollen. It's the larger white marks seen in the gap between the trunk and body. It seems to be under the clear coat..

Was that part of the car repainted - - maybe accident repair? It's hard for me to tell from the pics, but I've seen moisture spots (not water spots) like that due to moisture in the air line to the paint gun. It kind of blooms over time as it rises up to the clear coat. It can also happen if the fresh paint gets water droplets on it before the paint has dried.

It looks like you could get it corrected with a polishing compound. Maybe start by seeing a detailer.

It looks like it got crunched to me. Are you SURE you're getting your nail on it? Even so it could have been cleared-over.

If it can't be removed with buffing compound, then it's under the clear-coat. If that's the case, I would just touch it up with a good coat of black touch-up paint since it's on the edge of a seam. After it's dried for a day, then buff it out some to blend in. I've touched up stuff like this with good results. I'd try that way before having the dealer mess with it.
