I can't speak of the auto shifter in particular, but my manual shift knob from WMG only lasted a bit over one year. Then the clear coat started cracking. At first it was just a single crack, which wasn't visible unless lit by direct sunlight, but after a few weeks there were lots of them, which were visible at any time in any kind of light. And not only did they look terribly ugly, but I could also feel them, which was annoying. I had to ditch it.

Too bad, as it looked really nice when it was new.

As for the WMG automatic shifter, I think @RasJeremy can tell you more about it.

Yikes is right. But to be fair, I don't know if it's a common occurence or I was simply unlucky. It could be the latter. I suppose the clear coat could be removed and reapplied properly, so this may not necessarily be a show stopper.

That's a good point. Also, I have an automatic, so the ball will get far less use than a manual.
