Yea out of the box numbers would be sweet. The only other semi base whipple kit on the track was tuned by bama and did 10.80s. I would love to see what whipple tune does with 12 psi pulley...

My NT05R's showed up today. My forgestars are shipping this week. By next weekend I will have completed my IRS upgrades w/ axles.

At that point I will make the judgement call if I want to head to the track and see what the base Whipple kit does out of the box, and just run it with my 12 psi pulley and Whipple tune - or if I want to swap my injectors and do the E85 tune before hitting the track.

Im thinking you guys would like to see some out-of-the-box numbers though.

BTW now at 3300 miles with the SC. Guess I need to do another oil change now!
Can't wait Phunk...Thanks for all the Info!!

Definitely interested in out of box numbers.

12 psi of boost seems like you would be more close to detonation than the Procharger 9 psi of boost making the same numbers. I'm not knocking the Whipple kit, so don't take it that way guys, i just want to make sure i make the right decision given the money we have to pay for these kits.

Read through the whipple threads WhippleSC explains this.

There is so much going on in the tune with these, that it is hard to use any single data point (such as 12 psi) and be able to determine if the engine is running in a dangerous state or not. A tuner could choose to run lower boost, and more aggressive ignition or cam timing curves to make the power figures, or they could run more boost but go conservative on the calibration. Its so hard to say really, especially when we are only sitting in the pilots seat. With my Z car, I tune it myself and have an idea of how hard I am pushing it - with my Mustang, I have no idea!!! Im just along the ride.

So far I have not experienced any perceivable signs of detonation. I might pull my plugs soon and see how everything looks there. Maybe a compression and leakdown test would be in order soon also.

cam timing, ignition timing etc all play factors, as well as fuel type.

Some people have ran 15psi on low timing on 93. I run 15psi on E85 with a procharger. IAT, ECT also play roles in this.

Personally I wouldn't go over 12-13psi on 93 octane, that would be a job for E85, which also will keep temps down, and detonation resistance up high.

We technically run 11 to 11.5psi. There is always a "spike", especially with PD SC's. At tip in, if you are aggressive on the dyno, it will spike about .5psi higher then if you roll into it at a lower rpm.

A motor at 12psi and 10deg of timing vs a motor at 9psi and 25deg timing, which would be closer to detonation? These are by no means actual numbers but it just shows "boost" is not a true factor of how close one is to detonation.... When you add cam timing into the mix, you can make a 5psi boost application have more cylinder pressure then 15psi of boost, as boost is the measurement behind the valves, not actual cylinder pressure.
