I’ve been noticing 2 of my smooth pulleys on my whipple kit seem a bit wobbly. I tried my best to show it on the video but I’ve played with the belt and it’s def not a belt placement issue. When standing above you can see the lateral movement in the pulley.
Is this something I should be concerned with? Whipple says they are supposed to have some play in them but his seems excessive. Retorqued them to the 30lbs they recommend and that didn’t help.

Jump the belt at the tensioner so the idlers are free and see if you have lateral lost motion there. Had you been wise you could have asked Whipple HOW MUCH LATERAL MOTION IS ACCEPTABLE? When they gave you the spec you could have then setup a dial indicator and measure the lateral lost motion to see if it is acceptable or not.

I have a philosophy I use as a Electromechanical maintenance tech. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If Whipple said some movement is normal and did not give a specification and the unit is not throwing belts don't fret it.

Thanks man I did try that earlier, im able to move it laterally with relative easy but as you said if it’s not broke.
They sent me a new pulley so I’ll put that in place and see if it changes at all.

FWIW, I have seen the same type of movement on the 2018 setup. I am guessing that the lateral movement contributes to some premature belt wear but as ugstang17 said if it's not throwing the belt probably OK. I just keep an eye on it and if I visually detect a change will address it then.

I have the same movement on mine, so far over 1500 miles of abuse and track time with no issues.

Wobble is totally normal. When they don't wobble as much, like when they are cold, you get the annoying Whipple belt squeak/ chirp as the belt rubs on them instead of them wobbling slightly.
