So two local gas pumps are now selling VP 100 octane (which is rare in CA), as well as e85. I live in CA so the highest octane we have is usually 91. I currently have an SCT Tuner with VMP tunes. Looking at requesting a fuel tune from them, but wondering which route I should take?

Currently I have light bolt ons (JLT CAI, Cat-Back Exhaust, GT350 TB). Which is better for power output, reliability, and with stock injectors/fuel pump? I've heard with 100 octane and e85, it's best to go with bigger injectors?

Thanks in advance!

E85 is actually higher octane than 100, and should be considerably cheaper. You don't need bigger injectors for either. just a good tune.

Doesn't E85 corrode components that are not designed for E85? You know, like fuel lines, etc?

Yes but the fuel lines in these cars are designed to handle E85. They may not say that explicitly since the car isn't tuned to run on it, but the hardware seems capable.

Unless this is a race only car, e85. 100+ octane is insanely expensive to use regular driving with, and if you're out of your normal area on a trip would be very hard to find.

That's all true. I think I remember seeing that the 100 octane will be around 6 to 7 a gallon (not sure how accurate) which is much more expensive. E85 seems more realistic.

100+ octane is 7.99 a gallon in good ol Georgia. Too expensive for me to run in my car but I'll buy a tenth of a gallon every once in a while for cologne...dang it smells good! Jk just go with e85

I'd go E85 if you have stations readily available.

Here in Canada, we have to pay between $400-650 CAD ($320-520 USD)for a 205L (50 Gallon) drum.....it's not available at pumps and I'll still choose E85 over 100/110.

I've been extremely happy with E85. Noticeable power increase and it's only $1.50 a gallon near me which is killer.

I have a 100 Octane tune for my car. It's a nice little bump over the 93 but by no means worth the hassle and money to use on a daily basis.

If I had E85 near me it would be a no brainer. Actually I would probably stop heading down the FI road, get some headers, run E85 and be happy!

I would avoid either until you get rid of the cats. I'm not a fan of E-85. I've seen too many issues. I'm currently running a "torco tune"
