Just came across this thread and I want confirm that my 2017 (Auto) got the Launch Control at the track apps. It can be added and enable through forscan -IPC module

What good is it when the factory torque convertor will only allow the rpm's to go so high(maybe 1800?)

I can enable and disable it. It shows also the RPM option will give it a test tomorrow.

I did couple tests but unfortunately it ain’t working. Not sure though why it give me the option to enable/disable and even choose the target RPM.
