Just got the call from Ford informing me my car would be sent out to the dealer this Friday. I repeated my request that plate brackets NOT be fitted. She took note and promised to call me back on the request. Not holding my breath.
Send them an email as well and get them to reply back in writing

I'll do that but if it's part of their schedule to fit the brackets they probably already did so. Do you have an address that might get through?

Send it to your sales person, call them up and ask for their email. If things go bad later then it is confirmed in writing.

This from a Ford facebook pm 26 November after I asked for assurance no plates would be attached ...... hopefully they stay with this decision. I have everything in writing requesting of the dealership and Ford to NOT attach license plate mounting.

Hi Greg, the mounting brackets you see above are identical to what our Mustangs will receive.
However the rear won't necessarily have a bracket because it’s not required – a number plate can be mounted directly to the bumper fascia.
As for the front bracket, it is supplied ex-factory as standard, and can accommodate number plates of varying dimensions, reflecting the Mustang as a world car. The discretion is always with a Dealership and ultimately the Mustang customer whether to use them or not.
Plates can be mounted directly on front fascia / bumper.
Thanks, ^JS.

That's pretty p*** poor you guys are having to wait like this. I don't mind the cars receiving a thorough going over by Ford before going to the dealers but ......

.....given the current circumstances, the dealer principal who gave that 3AW guy a Mustang should be drawn over the coals. Tom Elliot should not have been allowed to take delivery.

Ford Australia should never have let that happen - the publicity is all bad.

I would bet my bottom dollar that Tom Elliot's car is not one of the ones that arrived on the Parsifal on the 2/12/15 but much more likely to be one of the Ford Au evaluation vehicles and it's delivery was orchestrated to coincide with the arrival of the Mustangs in Australia for maximal publicity value. Maybe he has to give it back when his 'real' car is delivered to him (whenever that occurs)??????????????????

At last my pony has been loaded aboard the Tamerlane overnight. What a huge relief!! Now it is All Aboard and off we go!!
Ian.
Hang in their mate ..... I know how good it feels when you see the WWL record updated to say it's been loaded on vessel :)

At Ford's current coarse and speed you and I will get keys on the same day

More conversation with Ford. Apparently some cars will be sent from the first batch with brackets attached (non specific how many). They will go out to the dealers with a bracket removal tool and drilling is not done or minimal. That's the best info I could get from Ford customer service.
Getting excited now - could be cruisin' the local boulevards Saturday arvo!

Surely the Gods wouldn't be that unkind to you Greg.
Ian.
Ian given Ford have stopped moving the goal posts and just removed them from the ground ... anything is possible.

I wondered some time ago whether given Ford pushed the official release out to January whether that would impact our deliveries. At the moment it seems highly possible that was always the agenda. Unless you work for 3AW of cause.

Your mustang will only go to the upfitter if there is a problem with it that could not be rectified on the production line.Otherwise it will exit factory and await railcar transport to port. It could be there a few days before train rolls.

oh i didn't know that thanks for letting me know so that means my car could be getting transported to the docks pretty soon because it was built on the 11/12/15

John to add to your update ..... a pm just received from Ford Facebook guys which is counter to what they told me last month <sigh>. Does anyone at Ford Australia know WTF they are doing ? Not a criticism, just an observation  If my front bumper has holes in it ... it'll be game on !!!

Hi Greg, the QA performed by Ford Australia on the Parisfal vehicles would be done from a manufacturing perspective, and not a retail perspective.
You will find your Dealership as a business will do a pre-delivery on the vehicle as they have certain responsibilities to their customers and so will have checklists of their own.
Have a chat to your selling Dealership as you may be lucky enough to pick it up on the day it arrives by truck!
As for the black brackets, they are fitted in the US but I’m sure your Dealer will be able to remove them if requested.
Thanks, ^JS
