Hey all,

What is the advantage of going with something like a weld drag light? Weight?

I just need to find something cheap that I can bolt on car go to track get some traction go home swap wheels back out.

Can anyone help me with where to look? All the prices I'm getting are like $700 just for the 2 rears.

Can I just buy some factory 17x9.5 or 17x10 cheapos? How do I know the bolt patter will be right?

I'm ignorant when it comes to wheels.

Thanks

Beefcake has a special on Racestar rims right now. They are light. The front weighs 17lbs and the rear weighs 21lbs. For comparison, the stock rim with 235/50/18 weighs 56lbs. I'm reading bias plys are the way to go for us manual guys too.

Thanks, but those are still like 560 for the two.

I'm just trying to find rims that will fit that are like 100 each to be used at the track maybe 3x a year

Will a 295/45/17 drag radial fit ok on a 17x9.5 Drag Star? This would be for a manual, 355 gear.
RBS550 has pics around here of that same setup.

doodguy, you are going to have a VERY hard time finding a 9.5" or 10" wide wheel for $100 each, unless you find a disgruntled significant other fire selling parts while the SO is out of town.

Anyone have any luck putting a true 28x10.5 slick under these?

rear brakes are too tall, sadly. If Ford had used slicked out
dual caliper rear brakes instead of these silly over sized single calipers we would all have 275s under our rides at the track...

Best tire you can use now would be a 17" MT drag radial like SHFTN6 has pictured...and u may need a sway bar relocation kit,but I am not 100%

I plan to try out a pair this spring

This is what I'm running on my performance pack

what rim,size and offset ?

How wide are the premium performance wheels?

Any issues if I get some and put drs on them? I'm looking to spend 2 or 300 on back two rims, not 600 plus as I'm finding

Those rims are Dark Stars from Race Star. 17x9.5" 6.875 backspacing 41.5 offset. No need for sway bar relocation. I just ordered a set from Beefcake's sale.:clap2:

We are a Weld Stocking dealer, with that said its the only thing we'll run. A little pricey but best to get it right the first time.

What do you mean by right? They are just lighter?

Id prefer to run a forged wheel over cast anyday. Forged wheels are lighter, stronger and built in the US rather than overseas.

Hoosier has a 28x10r17 bias slick... Priced better than most radials and I believe will fit without any modifications.

That is what I'll be running shortly. Track only, of course.
