I want to get some aftermarket rims to enhance the looks on my 2016 Magnetic GT. I think I have it down to either the MMD Zevens or the AMR charcoal

http://www.americanmuscle.com/charcoalzeven-19in85-1516-mtstreetcomp-stag.html

http://www.americanmuscle.com/mattecharcoalamr-19x85-1516-nittoinvo-stan.html

Both can be ordered with the Nitto invo tires. I like Nitto and have run them in the past, but have also had other brands that were good. My concerns besides appearance, since Im pretty set on going with this style wheel in charcoal/matte finish:

1. Weight of the wheel
2. Performance of the tire
3. Pricing, obviously

So, are these two wheels comparable or lighter than my stock base GT 18s?

Are the Nittos a good choice for that price, compared to my stock Pirelli's?

If I do order one of these packages, what are my base wheels/tires worth (they only have 600 miles on them!)?

Thanks!!!!!! :hail:

I'll chime in on the re-sale value of your old wheels. I had the Base GT 18" foundry wheels with similar mileage on the tires, and sold them on Craigslist for $550.

There are plenty of base wheels for sale on Craigslist, so it won't be easy to get much more in terms of resale $.

Nitto is a great tire brand the Invos will be better than the stock pirellis. See if maybe you can get the new Nitto Nt555 G2s those tires have been great.

The stock 18s are 25 pounds. I believe the MMDs and AMRs are around 27 to 28 pounds when I researched them a while ago. Personally, I would only ever want to go down in weight not up. These cars are already pretty heavy and unspung/rotational weight can have a more dramatic effect than sprung weight. Check out Advanti or TSW for some weight savings at a modest price. That being said the AM packages are very good deals if you do'nt care about having super light wheels.

I would love to have lighter wheels, but I can't find any that I like that are not crazy expensive.

If I can spend $2k for the AMR wheels/tires, and improve looks and handling vs stock, while only gaining a couple lbs per wheel, it's worth it to me. Epecially since I'm going up from 18s to 19s.

The AMR packages shouldn't be anywhere near 2k. For 2k you could get advanti hybris with tires off of tire rack that are 20/21 pounds per wheel in staggered setup.

I see them on there...I like the idea of saving that much weight, but are these good wheels that won't adversely affect my handling??

They have them in 19s. Have to sort them. Advanti makes a few different styles. There's an entire thread on these wheels with pictures and insight if you search the forum. I'll be getting my set when the weather warms up in may. These will definitely give you better handling over the stock 18s. Lightweight wheels make a world of difference.

Thanks, I found the 19s and ordered them along with some continental dw summer tires. I dont drive this car in the rain (and it doesnt snow where I live) so I think these should be fun

Nice, I'm getting the same tires. They're the lightest tires that I can find. You should be saving close to 40 pounds off the car.

What color did you get? Make sure to post some pics and opinions.

Nice! I didnt even realize they were so light. I just liked the reviews and some of the comments on here in regard to their overall performance.

I got the black ones - my Magnetic metal GT has a black on grey theme (tinted windows, heat extractors, black badges, tinted lights) and now the black wheels! :headbang:

Should be a nice setup. The wheels alone save 18 pounds and the tires save another 18 I believe. Car should definitely want to move faster and feel more nimble. The rule of thumb is that 1 pound of unsprung weight is equal to 2 pounds of sprung weight. some people think it is higher at 3 or 4 pounds.
