Gotcha, Looking back at your original post I saw you called out it was done as a custom- I was distracted by the pretty pictures of it :) Looks great and a great example of how a shop can work with your requirements and come up with a better result than a one size fits all solution. Too bad he...
A random thought is it could be the limited slip. They can groan or chatter, I notice you have the car turning in an arc and you mention coming out of turns- that's when you might notice this. Factory diffs really shouldn't do that though. Does it make the sound in a perfectly straight line?
Who's kit is that? I like that the main hoop runs outside the rear trim. The MM hoop runs inside the rear trim which can look cleaner, but requires heavy modification of the rear trim pieces to make it all fit especially with the harness mount bar. The MM kit has bolt in door bars that are still...
S197 obviously but this one is the Maximum Motorsports 6 point (has the high mount door bars also/not installed in these pics), and 5 point harnesses. Yes this kills the street-ability. Seat swap coming soon. I wonder when they will offer one for the newer cars?
Function over form...
Correct, my understanding is Auto X, you should be good to go. Open track type events get real strict real quick on convertible rollover protection. Last open track I ran at, rules spell this out pretty quickly:

This link had the NHRA rules boiled down for the longest time. In fact most quick searches still turn up this version. When I started tracking this car in 2014, I had no choice but to go 6 point and SFI harnesses. But you are correct, you couldn't use all of the cars performance w/o breaking the...
I'm self-tuned on SCT since I first had the car. As my knowledge has grown, I feel like the HP platform is more robust. I'm going to be making the switch to HP once I get back to tracking my car. The SCT forums suck compared to HP, just a better community in general. Also, SCT recently had a run...
^^These, the car accelerates and pulls through revs a bit more freely, effortlessly.
The rotating weight reduction is worth exponentially more than static weight reduction. I was able to measure .15-.2 sec ET reduction and maybe 3ish mph gain (I tested before and after, all other things the...
If it is not an NHRA sanctioned track or event, or enforcement is lax, it might slide. I also remember late last year they revamped many of the safety rules to ease equipment restrictions on otherwise stock cars to encourage track vs. street driving. Google up the latest NHRA rule amendments and...
It looks like there are two slight impacts in the metal itself in the effected area? Like two pinpoint sized divots? Maybe it was previously damaged by something else or maybe the factory painted over that blemish in the fender and it was vulnerable from that pre-existing damage.
Rislone is mostly ZDDP. You could try any ZDDP additive. I've tried other ZDDP additives on mine to no avail. Modern oil has all ZDDP stripped out of it for emissions component longevity reasons. Adding a ZDDP additive and using it long term will presumably kill your cats (it would probably take...
Agreed, I think it is probably a combination of things causing it, hence why there isn't a definite solution. Mine is worse with the A/C on, and worse after an oil change (despite pre-filling filter, trying many different high quality filters and oils) which seems to follow the general...
I don't. Oddly enough mine developed an intermittent BBQ tick @45k miles- but I've also been tuned since the get go and have many hundreds of track passes on mine, so I accept responsibility for it. I know others are having the noise stock/no competition driving, so maybe not a fair comparison...
Another vote on the Shaftmasters ALU. I've had mine on for a bit now, 100's of track passes and ten's of thousands of highway miles. They seem to stand the test of time. Not the same platform I know but might be good feedback....
I personally think "snake oil" additives are a BS band aid solution. I know this particular one has wide acceptance here but none the less. Hard to imagine Ford put Z-max (more snake oil) in and documented that? WTF??
^^This. There would be no reason to go back for more, just bail. If I ever got burned that many times by the same company I'd never buy one of their products as long as I live. There are plenty of choices, just move on.
