I have those type of spins all the time, usually at the same spot's though, tells me a lot about our road conditions here. But what I meant with a burn out with an automatic was more like the type of burn outs you get with line lock on the GT? We don't have it on the EB, so I'm curious if it's even possible... would love to try when my tires are nearly gone :-) alternatively I might do some donuts!!

I think if one would apply handbrake while the car is in D, then no problems....

I have the automatic and can do the line lock. I will try it when the Pirellis are close to dead :D

Reading more and more reviews, I might actually go with the new Continental SportContact6. I did have Contis on my other cars and now I have Continental WinterContact on the Mustang and those are great tyres. So I am thinking I will stick to the brand.
Contis are supposed to match the MPSS but will probably wear more. On the other hand, they are about 20% cheaper.

Have the Winter Contact too, they are great!

Thanks for the tip with the Sport Contact6

Have never used anything but the Conti WinterContact in winter. Simply brilliant!

I just ordered 4 or the Contis. The Winter ones are great and according to the reviews the new summer ones are probably as great as the MPSS. So I will stay with the brand and save a little bit of money as well.

Had a surprise waiting for me today in the office. I hope 255/40 is the right size :D I did only check the car papers before ordering.

I always thought the Pirrelli's wouldn't be that bad... Also my tire centre told me they are amazing good tyres (porsche, lamborghini, high end sportscars...) And after owning the car now for one week, I was thinking the same. Not one problem...

BUT I only drove the car when it was dry.

Last night then, I almost crashed the car... REALLY scared me! The road was damped and turning on the highway, I totally lost the backend of the car. Barely missed the guardrails on the right to fly over the 2 lanes and barely miss the concrete walls on the left, spin around and come to a standstill in the middle of the highway. I was very lucky there was no car near me on the highway, or it would certainly have been a collision.

Made me rethink the power of the car (or the lack of the tyres)... from now on, no more sport+ when damped or wet.
And maybe it still would be a good idea to go for some raintyres

The car will know you quicker than you will know the car... I'm at +6000 km now and my impression is that the tires are performing better than they did the first 3/4000km's. Also more aware of when it's possible to fool around and when not... it takes a while ;-)

It's Pirelli what do you want ...?
More than 35 years ago when I was a small boy my dad was already complaining about them on his Ford Transit (van). So nothing really changed in all these years.
I had them once (on an Audi - see higher) not only were they gone after less than 15000km but as you said they are dangerous on wet conditions.
Once you get used to them you know when you can go for it but this is best done in good conditions ... when it's wet ... be more careful ;)
