What part is this found in my drivers side foot well

So I went to pop my hood this evening so that I could plug the Mustang back in to the battery tender and I found this on my floor mat. I did a quick glance around however, it’s dark enough in my garage that I can’t see a whole lot, so what the hell is this?

negative. I have the nice rubber floor mats that come with the premium edition or at least the dealer that I bought mine from included them

There is a couple of studs that go through the carpet by the firewall and this plastic piece is pushed onto the studs

You are correct it is not that. I just did a cursory inspection and that is not what it was. There is a small hole in the carpet near the accelerator. But when I tried to stick this into it, it didn’t actually grip on anything, so I’m not sure if that is it, but it is the only area of the carpet I could find something that would go on the driver side.

That’s the hole that I found. However, when I try and put this thing back in, it doesn’t actually attach to anything. It just seems to sit in there.
