I was in my local dealership on Tuesday and I spec'd out a car to order using x-plan. Basically I put a $200 deductible deposit down after going over x-plan pricing and what the window sticker would show. After that my salesman gave me his card with his personal number on it. Is there anything else I'm supposed to have? I'm not really sure what happens now lol...

You need to ask for your DORA from your sales person. That should be available in 24-48 hrs.

Make sure they have an allocation available for your Mustang, if not, you won't get your car.

You bet! After this, you will get your VIN generated provided no holds on materials for any options you ordered. When you have your VIN, the dealer can then tell you your approximate build week. One week before your build week, your window sticker will be available on cotus.ford.com. Then you wait:D

As long as you got a written purchase agreement and put down a deposit, you're all set. Then you'll wait for them to give you a VIN number in a few weeks and it'll be scheduled to be built.

One final question. I'm on cotus and it says my car is in the "in order processing" stage. That makes sense. What I'm confused on is it says that I will be notified when a VIN has been assigned. When I look at the top left of the screen under the order number I already see a 17 digit VIN. is this normal?

Like the options listed under the vehicle summary? Yea, they're all there lol. Is this some weird anomaly? My order date is 12/10/14. Should these things not appear on cotus yet?

If the dealer is large and has many allocations this could be normal. We have seen others place their orders on Monday or Tuesday and have their VINS by Thursday as that is the day VINS get assigned.

Ok cool. Yea they're definitely one of the largest in the area. This is all new to me. Thank you all for your help, this site is great!
