Yeah one of the best things was that you could get almost any engine, tranny, interior, wheel, or pretty much any option combination just the way you wanted it..
You're right, Sal JC. Times were simpler back then :) Btw, a lot of folks may not realize it but, back then, the 4-speed manual was actually a 3-speed manual with overdrive. 3rd was 1:1 and 4th was around .78:1 (I think). The gears were canyon-wide back then! Really makes me appreciate the 6-speed today!

Great pictures and cool story, Mustang#16!! Love it!
Thanks Todd15Fastback!

Awesome thanks for posting those pics .. looks like a happy day
Thanks StangBANG! Yeah, it really was. Should've named that day at school "Mustang Day!" It was the talk of the school that day I drove up in it. I was all smiles, ear-to-ear!

Here ya go:
Brings back memories of my first... A 1983 GLX Hatchback I bought used straight out of High School in '85. It had the 5.0L engine and 4-speed manual like the GT but not the stiffer suspension.

No pics, sadly. It was Light Desert Tan over Walnut. Not very sporty but very 80s. :D

Those pics are awesome it's like looking into a time capsule seeing a brand new 79. Too bad you don't have that car today in a from factory shape would be really cool! You've had so many mustangs and haven't kept any? Why did you trade up so often? According to your sig there a years where it looks like you traded up every year in a row consecutively lol
