What do we know about the 2018?

Well with Ford pushing for EB/GT sales I think the v8 will be around at least through the 7th gen.
And with how much Ford has ignored the v6 for this generation, I think we will no longer see a 6cyl Mustang after 2018. A TTv6 could be possible but it just doesn’t seem like they would want it as part of their lineup when they already have the EB. Kind of sad because the v6 never got any respect even though it’s been in the Mustang family since the beginning.

I just hope they still offer a MT for those years. Hell, even if the price of a 5.0 drops to $20k but no more MT….im out.

I hate those headlights, do you think they're getting rid of the tri-bar running lights? That's one of the most eye catching parts about the Mustang's front end.

I can imagine that they change the lights to make them approved to EU laws. Currently the export Mustangs are getting a cheap DRL in the foglight instead of the tribars, since they approve the expected radiation angle.

But I don't think they get complete rid of the tribar look, it's a signature lightning. Maybe they add a horizontal line to the botom of the lights which connects with the tribars, so it could match the EU laws

That front with the tri-bars looks good. I am hoping for some engine upgrades to the ecoboost. Or even better a V6 ecoboost.

Why do people think a HP bump is just a no brainer possibility? This is a small motor vs the competition and it's almost at the same HP level, naturally aspirated. What makes you think they can just pull another 20-30 out of it? Especially with mpg to consider.

Really this is more of a legitimate question than me just saying people are crazy for thinking it.

1. Look at the aftermarket, a few mods can easily take the current 5 liter to 450 hp, without boost, and the motor can easily handle that without stress. Ford can use the same tricks.
2. An HP bump almost always follows after 2-3 years at a static output.
3. Competition! Ford has to keep up with competitors; the Camaro specifically.

I wonder what the tradeoff would be in mpg though? I know people say we don't buy these cars for the mpg, but that's not necessarily accurate. If it got 15 on the highway for one reason or another, it would be reflected in the sales. For many of us, this is a daily driver for the most part.

It could be done so the "combined" fuel ratings don't change much. Look at the S197's. The first version of the coyote in that car was rated for 412 hp and had virtually the same mpg ratings as the S550 coyote, which makes 23 more HP at 435. We need only 15 more hp to get to 450. It won't be a problem.

Hell, the mpg can be increased by putting the car on much needed diet. That would probably make as much performance difference as adding 15hp. Even if nothing was actively done to increase mpg, you're not going to drop all the way down to 15mph hwy just from increasing 15 hp. The modded guys on here can tell you that.

The boost in HP from the Coyote in 2011 to the 435 HP now, is more of a pen to paper trick, the Dyno numbers for both engines is almost the same,plus the 2011/12 had the oil squitters for cooling, instead of the hood vents,as far as a bump in HP for 2018 you will be lucky if the V8 is still an option by then,CAFE & Govt regulations.I remember when the Ford Mustang looked like AMERICAN MUSCLE, but that was before Europe designed it for there roads and tastes, and Ford LET them, now look at what we have, and where the Mustang is headed,at this rate the owners manual won"t even be printed in English for 2018.
