How will shorter stickier tires make the trans work harder?

For HPDE driving do S shifter position and Track mode minimize unneeded "lift throttle upshifts"? Some back road testing seems to indicate that at higher speeds it does tend to stay in the current gear during some lifts. At autocross speeds the trans upshifts far too often so it is much better to shift manually.

Thanks,
So you are saying, to use paddle shifters. Because letting the computer shift, let's the transmission shift more times than is necessary. Which leads to more heat in transmission and in rear differential.

Paddle shifter is fundamental in roadcourse.
Less heat on the trans
Less heat on the diff

Also diff in auto heats less than manual. (Different ratio)
Last
In a a10 cats don't heat the trans.
Trans is shield there and also the pan is plastic. The trans generates heat. A lot.

A couple of things on diff fluid.

The owner manual says to add friction modifier with no distinction between traction loc and torsen. However the Ford oem diff fluid does not include friction modifier. MANY aftermarket synthetic diff fluids include friction modifier including Redline UNLESS you get the NS (non slip) version. Here is the NS version. https://www.redlineoil.com/75w140-ns-gl-5-gear-oil

and here is the list of Redline diff fluids.

When I've shopped for other major brands of diff fluids it hasn't been easy to determine whether or not friction modifier is included but many/most say somewhere on the bottle or on the website that "no additional friction modifier is needed." Therefore, you could easily end up with double the amount of friction modifier if you add it to these fluids.

If I was trying to get that last 10% of locking mentioned in the Torsen link above I would probably buy Redline 75W-140 NS and then only add friction modifier if/when the the daily driving NVH became too objectionable. In fact I did this many years ago with an 88 5.0 LX with traction-loc I used for autocrossing after it became both a daily driver and the initial tow vehicle for my autocross Formula Ford.

Note that for autocross with all nannies off on RE-71R's I don't notice any "one wheel peel" with the oem fill. Either both tires are hooked up or both are spinning as far as I can determine either with my current 18 or my previous 15 GT PP.

It doesn't hurt anything to add it to a Torsen diff but it does nothing useful either. But it has to be there in a TractionLoc diff. I think Ford does this just to eliminate the possibility of an owner, or even a mechanic, not putting it in a TracLoc car. I never run it in my Torsen, I just use the BG product. My car is mostly a track day car, the only street miles it sees is to and from a road course.

Which BG product?

These include friction modifier. https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/drive-line/bg-ultra-guard-ls-heavy-duty/

It looks like these don't. https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/drive-line/bg-ultra-guard-heavy-duty/

That heat is from the cats . The trans doesn't get hot like the diff does.
I’d like to see someone take temp data on track. I never did this with my old Mustang, but I did after several summer daily drives. I saw around 220F case temperatures across various spots on the bottom of the trans (not near the converters).

I ran Redline MTL and never had an issue (around 40k miles when I got rid of the car).

All Red Line Oil front to back

5w-50 for motor
MTL for trans
75w85 for rear diff
Water wetter for radiator
RL600 for brakes

No problems at all, great stuff.
