Fiona - in this household cars always get names starting with the first letter of the make, and an S550 is clearly female. The (Nissan) truck is Norman.
I named him "Lateboomer55"! Just like me, my GT is a lateboomer that I didn't get it until later in life, 20 years later. When I was younger, I studied Mustang on car magazines, admired my friends who drove them. Then life went on. So I decided that it was either now or never!
I dont necessarily name my cars but give them alter egos in my mind.
duuuunnnn duun... duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn. JAWS
I’ve just got "the car” and "the truck”. I’ve never named anything. Though I had a couple given names many years ago. My buddies called my 95 Ranger the Danger Ranger because I think I hit nearly every ditch in the county during my drinking days, and my new ‘98 T/A got nicknamed The Pussmobile because girls threw themselves at me once I got it.
Every time I named a car/machine it broke, so I quit.
I did have a 2013 Mustang GT that a friend named Muskrat. I would refer to it as Muskrat when talking to friends, but I never named it. My 2019 Mustang is "The Mustang". I do like Muskrat, but it aint happening.
I call her "Halle" because like the actress, she's black and beautiful. My wife refers to her as the Princess.........I don't think she means it in a nice way (LOL).
