Love that idea. If you take the original OEM bulb out (just the bulb), does it kill the LED's as well?
I have a '19 which has 2 LEDs in the housing that are soldered onto the PCB. The LED strip has about 10 in each 6" section. I tapped power by soldering a wire to the OEM LED housing connector itself.

"We got lost..." Wink Wink :)
It was a gorgeous area. I had no idea somewhere so cool was only 2 hours away from me. The nerd in me was getting goosebumps because it reminded me of my days playing RPGs and stumbling upon areas like that.

Mustang ownership is a personal journey of customizing your car to your tastes. It is also a social experience when we get together to show our work to each other and those who enjoy the hobby but can't necessarily participate. We collectively get to know each other through the forums. A good opportunity is coming up in September, called Mustangs at the Mountain, located at Stone Mountain, GA. (full disclosure, I have never attended the event and have no affiliation with it) where we can get together and meet in person and have a good time. To add to the experience, I'd like to see if collectively, as a online community, we can organize convoys from all directions to the event. Our own Mustang Power Tour of sorts.

We have three months to see what shakes out. The opportunity is amazing and we can have a positive impact on the hobby.

I will setup a new thread to gage interest and work out details for those interested.

Just get a high output LED bulb (like Diode Dynamics sells) for the factory light. It will light up the trunk very well without adding more lights.

Edit - I see you have a 2019 which seems to already have an LED trunk light. My 2015 had a incandescent bulb, so the Diode Dynamics LED bulb made a huge difference. But the OEM LED unit looks a bit wimpy too.

Not easily done on the 18+. Soldered unit.

Installed 2 LED light strips in the trunk and wired them to the existing trunk light. Got the idea from BJStang's journal.

You have a trunk light? My Bullitt doesn't have one

How do you have it mounted? Where are you pulling power from?
Towards the left side of the passenger visor at the top of the windshield. Wire is tucked under liner, right side A-pillar, under glove, under console, to power socket under arm rest. Nothing fancy, simple, quick and easy.
