GT350 deuce didn't recommend changing headers and H-pipe. I was looking into the X-pipe and recently wanted to change to Kook headers and Borla Switchfire but now concerned about the sound and noise. Also, Borla nor Steeda could advise on the Borla switchfire fit for the Mach1. Please let us know how it works out? Are you intending to take it to a dyno test afterwards? I have the A10 Mach1 HP so also wonder if the Borla switchfire exhaust would fit the automatic.
with the gt350 CAI (removes carbon trap + the air intake resonator), h-pipe, and headers i put down 451hpedit: and my intention is to gain HP and closer the sound to original, the better for me.
I removed the carbon trap and also upgraded my air filter to the larger GT500 Airaid one. I might just start with the headers and then see.with the gt350 CAI (removes carbon trap + the air intake resonator), h-pipe, and headers i put down 451hp
switching back to stock exhaust (sounds closer to stock sounding tone wise but still ample volume increase) there was no real change to the hp
I had it dyno’d at the shop
to gain hp and maintain original sound, don’t remove the suitcase underneath would be my advice.. you’re talking 2-3 hp difference which is nothing, but changing the sound/tone substantially
Thanks for the detailed reply. I for sure will just start with the headers and take it from there. Many tracks have 92 db limits so got to be careful with that.No dyno planned. I'll have it tuned for drivability and smiles per mile on 91 octane. The addition of the headers and mid pipe, removal of the carbon trap, and addition of a high flow air filter have definitely changed the power delivery of the car. The Swithcfire has much less rasp than my buddy's Steeda Xpipe (less but it's still there). I've limited driving until the tune is installed to mitigate any issues.
Without a doubt the car is louder. As mentioned, cold starts are very aggressive (may be problematic if you live in a condo or park underground). When in quiet mode it's as loud as normal mode used to be (once warm). TBH the change is more than I expected. YouTube videos do not do the volume increase justice. I'm happy with the sound, the volume jump was a surprise. I recommend if you want headers do them first. Leave the suitcase installed and then gauge if you want it louder/different sound.
I went with the Kooks 1 3/4 Green cat "OEM kit" which has the 2 1/2 adapter to match up the oem exhaust (#1151H231). The switch fire is sized to also match up to factory. Both fit fine in combination without issue. Stock clamps up front, Borla provided clamps in rear. I removed the cat back to measure as I didn't know how much difference front to back the combo would net. In the end I removed 4 3/8" of oem piping which aligns with the instructions when installed in factory exhaust (meaning the Kooks headers terminate in the same position as OEM) to keep the mufflers in stock position and keep the active exhaust harness away from metal.
I can't see it interfering with the auto trans - mine is a 6spd - the mid pipe is quite far back. I'm sure someone in here has the switchfire with an auto can advise.
So what was the overall gain in hp? Did you dyno before the changes?with the gt350 CAI (removes carbon trap + the air intake resonator), h-pipe, and headers i put down 451hp

Didn’t dyno before, but plenty of others have and a stock m1 puts down about 408-410 hp. So a solid 40 hp pickup at the wheelsSo what was the overall gain in hp? Did you dyno before the changes?
Gotcha, thanks for info.Didn’t dyno before, but plenty of others have and a stock m1 puts down about 408-410 hp. So a solid 40 hp pickup at the wheels
you can definitely notice the difference
I’m ready for that sound clip when you get it. The install looks clean.I found out that my guy completely did a basically one-off custom installation to get the quad exhaust, IRS brace, and jacking rails to cooperate together. Went and got gaskets from Ford since the QTEC302 didn't come with em, ran the power up through grommets, mounted the wireless box somewhere (didn't ask but he said out of the way and unobtrusive), and even trimmed the QTEC302's to get a cleaner install.
Shimmed with stainless steel spacers, rubber on each end, custom brackets welded to the pipes, just the whole deal.
I'm thrilled. Can't wait to hear it in person on Sunday when I pick it up. He said, "hearing that V8 with the valves open makes my inner 12-year old happy!"

What’s the difference between the quad exhaust and the simple Zoomies Kindig installs? I assume both are for a straight thru deeper sound?I found out that my guy completely did a basically one-off custom installation to get the quad exhaust, IRS brace, and jacking rails to cooperate together.
