I used Meguiar's Ultimate Polish with a black fishing pad. If you spend some time on Scotts videos he will walk you through the techniques, speeds, pads and compounds to use. As I said earlier with the DA and the proper pad and compound there is very little damage that you can do. That is the beauty of a DA.

Thanks Mike for the confidence boost and the link! What kind of finishing polish did you use.

I don't believe Meg's Ultimate is actually doing any correction. If you read the bottom of the label it says that it's a glaze, so just temporarily filling in swirls. I'd recommend Sonax Perfect Finish for a one-step polish that will finish down with the best out there. I agree that Scott has some great info in his YouTube videos.

Thanks Mike for the confidence boost and the link! What kind of finishing polish did you use. I've used the Chemical Guys Scratch & Swirl remover which worked well on my 15', but in the sunlight I can see where I was working. Wondering if I need to complete it with a finishing polish?

If you want the (in my opinion) the best polish, order some Sonax Perfect Finish. It is the best performing, yet easy to use polish I’ve ever used. It has a decent amount of cut for correction...and if finishes down awesome.

You are correct but it is a new car and I do not want to do any correcting. I will save the clear coat for when it has the love marks, scratches, and swirls. Then I will take that fine layer of clear coat off doing the correcting. Everybody has their own way of doing things.

True, but a DA polisher won’t really remove the clear....think of it more like leveling it. I’ve buffed every car I’ve ever owned multiple times and never had an issue. I’d rather do it right away and get it perfect rather then waiting for it to get marring and it scratches.

You can only level things by filling in low spots or taking off high spots. Since the DA can't fill anything in, it takes the high spots off. A scratch, swirl, etc is a localized slightly (you hope) low spot. The DA or any polisher removes clear until the surrounding area is close to the bottom of said scratches. The pluses of a DA is it won't take off too much too fast for the typical user, particularly over ridges in the sheet-metal or friction burn the paint from high speeds.

May come down to semantics, but a DA doesn't "do" anything but the labor. It's the product/pad combination that does the work. And that determines how much cutting you're doing.

Exactly! This is why I start out with the least aggressive course of action. Sonax Perfect Finish is so versital that pad selection can change what it does.

Well last night technically, but met up with a couple of people from my car club to celebrate the club's anniversary. This group of 4 of us were the only ones out of maybe 20 cars who decided to park at the top of the parking structure. I had forgotten how much lower and wider this thing sits than even a lowered GT, much less the S197 or New Edge body style cars. Only wish I was a better photographer.

Very minor update in the grand scheme of things but makes a world of difference aesthetically. $20 + 15 minutes. American Muscle side marker tint.

Looks awesome. Can you post a link of the product? I can’t seem to find it.

Thanks.

Cover showed up at the dealer, picked it up and test fit it. Says 16+ GT350, so I wanted to make sure it fit over the new rear spoiler. No problems, fits great
