On a cold and rainy day I got my new wheels. Had to nurse it home from Autocraze, slippery new tyres and wet roads don't mix! The photos don't really do them justice.

Edit: Speaking of which, if anyone on this forum in Sydney is interested in buying my OEM wheels and tyres please DM me. they've done 4000km and otherwise pristine condition. Ceramic coated also.

Always admired the TTs. You may have seen it but years ago EVO Magazine turned one into a track project to see if they could do RS times without the money.

https://www.evo.co.uk/audi/tt/10678/project-veyrog-2-audi-tt

It seems to have vanished after Part 3 which could've been around the time Harry Metcalf left EVO.

Dare I ask how you've found the maintenance side of things?

Lots of tweaked TTs back in the day, nearly as many incarnations as the Mustang. It‘s fwd so I have about as much power as the front wheels can handle, but it’s quite quick. Serviced regularly by high quality mechanics and has been very reliable. Just regular wear and tear after 216,000kms. It’s actually quite rare as is Denim Blue with a blue interior instead of the regu black or grey.

This week I had a pair of HGP quarterglasses tinted and fitted. I have been wanting this for a while now and finally got a decent discount on their black friday sale.
Taking the originals out was harrowing to watch.

They are made of Gorilla glass and the five pieces are individually encapsulated.

Thanks Trent. No, they are probably not a big seller. It was provided standard on the 2021 Shelby Super Snake

When I put the new wheels on the Mustang last year, I reused the factory lug nuts. At the time, it was all about getting the wheels on the car and I wasn't too phased by the chrome setting off against the matte black.

However, changing the lugs was something I wanted to do at some stage. The fact these factory lug nuts are known to be troublesome, the chrome jacket on the outside of the nut swells over time and can actually prevent the wheels from being removed. I did not want that situation!

Because these are factory wheels, they need to be paired with a factory style "acorn" lug nut. Despite the unbranded box, these are actually Gorilla items.

Out with the old, in with the new. Once again, I got to play with my toys......tools.

I had no idea how much different these were going to look, to say I'm pleased with the transformation would be an understatement.

As always, it's all in the "details" with me.
Hi DB.
Just reading some old threads and came across this one. Can you recall where you got these in Australia? An internet search doesn't bring up much info on Oz suppliers.

Cheers for all your detailing info! You are my first port of call when it comes to choosing car care products.

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.

As my wheels are OE, I used these "acorn" type from Autoware -
Black Wheel Nuts (20 Piece) - Autoware

They also sell the Ford Performance ones, but I think they are the same metal jacket ones used at the factory -
Ford Performance Black Wheel Lug Nuts Kit Of 20 - Autoware

And they also sell longer versions for aftermarket wheels -
Wheel Nut Kit Black or Chrome - Autoware
