Small preview of what we've been silently working on here at the shop.

While pushing the limits on our EFR turbo system, it became obvious that a built engine was needed. It's fun to push factory components to their limits; but we prefer not to ruin a functional engine (or parts) if it can be avoided.

Above is a photo of one stock rod which we pulled from our engine. Well constructed, but thin and light; definitely not made for big power.

With our extensive background in building 1k+HP 4 cylinder turbocharged engines, we dove into developing a custom rod and piston combination for the EB 2.3L engine.

More details on our proprietary piston and rod combo designed by our engineers later.

As far as we know, this is the worlds first fully built Mustang Ecoboost 2.3L engine! It is operational, and currently in testing!

Has anyone found the weak point yet? Have the stock rods shown any signs of wear and tear?

Looks like you need something bigger than a 7163. :)

Where's the EFR turbo update? While the pics are beautiful, and pique my interest. Why are we upgrading the bottom end before figuring out the fuel issues. I'm so close to folding my cards and buying a base GT PP w/Recaros.

Might be slightly off topic, but what have you guys done to the fuel system to produce enough horsepower require forged internals?

To me it seems like the fuel system is the biggest hurdle for the ecoboost to overcome.

IMO the fueling issue is being blown out of proportion.i think there is plenty of power to be had as is,tuning is key IMO. Throw some meth At it if you want more. That should provide plenty of fun until a compete turbo upgrade is available.
When you can get Gt power/ acceleration out of the current car now why would you get rid of it for a GT? I am amazed at how many expected 500 hp in a 4cyl car thats been out for a few months.:headbonk:

Nope. SPEED Perf6manc3 in New Jersey beat you guys to the punch. Livernois too.

Doesn't matter who is first though. What matter is that more and more shops and manufacturers are coming online to support this platform. Keep up the good work guys!

Fftec, the rods and piston combo look great! One question though; since you had the motor out, why not upgrade the sleeves?

Based on your experience and observation, what do you think the stock ones will handle?
