I had a stone impact on the windshield of my Porsche leave a star fracture about 1.5 inch in diameter. As soon as I noticed the fracture I had a windshield repair come out and try to fix it. They injected cement into the fracture and although it was still slightly noticeable, the fracture has not propagated in over a year. It only cost $30 for the repair.

Is there any way to determine if a crack was started by an impact to the window versus an edge crack that started in manufacturing? I had a new pickup windshield start to crack...brought it into the dealer...repair shop said that it was a manufacturing crack...warranty paid for it. I still have no idea how to tell the difference.

$500 seems really cheap for a windshield. I paid that much for a side window on my old Taurus ten years ago.

Girl that works for me got a stone chip in her mother's Denali... Safeguard came out, drilled it:eyebulge:, then filled with epoxy. You could barely see it and has not moved in a year.

Florida has free windshield replacement due to safety, regardless of your deductible. Weird that your state does not.

Trust me, it isn't free. It's just zero down.
Meh, I won't keep them enough to care - they like to raise the rate on me every year, I keep just opening new accts :)

Pay the same price every year

SC does also. I had to replace something like 6 windshields in a 1-2 year period on my 6 cars one time. What sucked was my daughters CR-V got replaced and two weeks later another rock hit it and had to have another installed.
When I went to get classic car insurance for my '66, I had to explain why so many windshield claims.
