Whats going on guys so as the title states, my car has developed a minor oil weep at the VVT solenoids at the front of the valve cover. When i see weep i mean the oil has started to stain the block, not like i have a major leak with dripping oil. That being said i wanna nip this in the butt before it gets worse.

My question is are there just o-rings/gaskets to replace for the sensors or does the sensor have to get replaced all together.
If they have to be replaced i believe these are the ones, correct me if I'm wrong.

If they need to be replaced, i havent found a write-up online how to do it, does the valve cover need to be pulled?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know about the Mustang packaging, but I've changed VVT solenoids on other Fords (5.4L) and it was really easy. After you pull the plug and the cap off it was one screw (torx 12 as I recall). With that engine it would be more likely that the cap was leaking, and there is a high chance the cap will break during removal. I would not mess with it for some minor oil discoloration. It's not "leaking" since it sits way up at the top of the engine. A little vaporized oil is getting by, that's all.

EDIT
If you do decide to pull it out, get a long torx of the appropriate size, not a tip on an extension. If you drop that tip it's going to rattle right down into your chains. Then you will need to pull the timing chain cover.

p.s. - Nip it in the bud, as in a flower bud.
