Hello all,

I am just wondering, what voids the factory warranty. Would a cold air intake and cat back exhaust void the factory warranty? The saleman said if i buy from Ford racing and let for install it will not void the warranty, i am not sure if i beleive him.

Thanks for the responses in advance!

Don listen to dealers..

it clearly in opwner warranty manual.

You can install aftermarket but.. any failure which happens due to that aftremarket will not be covered.

CAI may or may not damage your car... but again. there needs to be a proof.

Catbacks are safe bets.. things go haywire after you change downpipe.. but catbacks are just fine.

BUt again.. warranty is only voided if it is proved that your aftermarket did the damage.

For example: You put CAI and stereo stops working.. warranty will cover it..

Has anyone had a warranty voided due to installing an oil separator?

no. If a dealer tries to tell you that, RUN to another dealership.

^That actually made me laugh!
Laughable, but I was reading the other post where someone thought their warranty may have been voided due to painted calipers...

After seeing the 500 mile reviews of the separators and how much oil they have extracted is insane.

You can pretty much do anything post catalytic converters and anything that doesnt involve tuning the car.

Once you touch that ECM you're done.

You guys are mistaken about how this happens real world. No, your warranty in general shouldn't be affected overall but here's what actually happens.
NO- they (Ford or your dealer) don't have to prove anything. YOU do! What are you going to do...call the cops and make your dealer fix it?
They will try and DO deny some warranty covered repairs when they find mods that they think they can get away with even remotely possibly maybe had even the slightest chance of contributing to it. And then it will be your fight and displeasure, time, money, phone calls, emails etc to attempt to prove that your mods did NOT have anything to do with it.
You may prevail but it's usually weeks or months later and in the mean time, it cost your dealer and Ford nothing.
Is this right? Is it the right thing for your dealer or Ford to do? No but most people give up and it saves them millions.
I myself won't even use a different oil filter but Motorcraft until MY warranty is up. I've been through this.
Again...they don't have to prove anything! But you DO. And if you finally do....all they do is say, ok, you win, we will cover it. Months later.
Sounds like a lot of fun to be "right".
