Thanks! I'm not sure what is going on but braking going to sequential makes me think it is a wiring issue. The green connection on my car is on the right hand side (passenger) and I believe my third brake light looks similar. I would suggest unplugging both lights and then plugging everything back in. You could also unplug the third brake light and see what happens with just the two lights connected.

Side question, you didn't use the EU adapters that came in the box right? The US should be using what you got and not using the additional EU pieces if you have a USDM spec car.
Haha that would've been my first mistake, the adapters, luckily they don't fit in the plug in slot since they're different.

I tried it with the yellow wires unplugged/standard 3rd brake light connection and also tried connecting/disconnecting both lights...even unplugged the battery for good measure just to test it :( unfortunately no bueno..guess I'll just have to back to factory lights. Shame.

Before I bought these I'd got one of those diode dynamics sequincer kits, but unfortunately everything worked *except* the brake lights..perhaps it's the car.

Out of curiosity are you using the diode with the VLAND? I am pretty confident they are not compatible. I would try that since I also have the Diode and I had to take them off as part of mine.

I know VLAND is tough to talk to. I have emailed them before and it's not easy but worth trying if it is still not working.

Yeah I found the best way to communicate with VLAND (the most responsive way) was via WhatsApp

Well i was thinking about it...except i kinda forgot where i put them. Chances are pretty big i trew them away since they didn't work as they were supposed to, but as you've pointed out I doubt they would be compatible. All the mods I've done so far, I've done at my dad's garage. God knows where he leaves his/my stuff.

See the part I am most confused by is the part in your original post where it said breaking goes sequential. The VLAND lights don't do sequential braking and that is a function of the diode kit only. So if you go back and look at your lights the VLAND should plug directly into the factory housing in the trunk. You shouldn't have any cabling in between.

Other than that I am completely out of ideas. Might be something you need to return if they don't function.

There's a cable that connects the 2 factory housing, but i suppose those are factory standard. I bought the car from a german US import dealer, whom imported it via lithuania to skip on import taxes. Also when i check the VIN i see that it's a car that has been damaged before, so there's a possibility they fixed it in lithuania and made it to fit eu standards but ruined the wiring hence the lights wouldn't work. But that's just me speculating. Thanks for the advice anyway, on a positive note i do now know how to change the tail lights :).

Is it not likely when your car was imported they altered the wiring from US wiring spec to EU legal spec, and that's the issue now?

Possibly, but then the adapters for eu models should fit the housing right?

Could be, but it still has the same US version housing for the plugs. If that's the case i guess I won't be able to get my taillights to be sequintial, atleast not with my expertise. Probably could get a dealer to look at it, and/or make me an offer on fixing it, but that's going to cost me :/.

I'd expect an import company to run some wires and change things without changing the whole car's loom. They likely did some manual re-wiring and left the car's loom as is.

Thanks for the write up. I just did this last weekend so these tips would have been good but I got it figured out on my first go. Wish it didn't have to connect to the third brake light. I was about to make a separate post about some issues I am having. Wondering if you can check for the same.

1) Is there a delay between when you press either the left or right signal and the time it takes to turn on the sequenced tail lights? Mine takes a good full second so I realize how dangerous this must be if I am driving and want to change lanes quickly. It is going to look like I am not using my signal.

2) Do you get the same radio without static or reception issues? Some of the channels I realize have been giving me static where I did not have that previously. I plan to disconnect the third brake light and try the radio sometimes this weekend to see if I can get that figured out. I tried it over different days and different weather conditions so it wasn't that.
Curious if you figured out your static? Just installed mine and am getting radio static when I press the brakes now. Thinking it’s probably the yellow wire up by the antenna and 3rd brake light.

I just live with it. I agree that it is probably that wire. I spoke to my audio guy and he said that aftermarket items can sometimes emit their own frequencies that can interfere. It just comes with the territory. I still get most of my stations but a couple of them get worse reception than they once did. So now I just plug in my phone mostly. What are you experiencing?

Same thing. Only when braking is it an issue and more noticeable on some of the weaker reception stations higher up in the frequency range. It isn’t terrible but definitely noticeable.

Seems similar to what I am experiencing. The cost of beauty I guess.
