I hear it when i start the car and when im driving in a parking lot uphill. Is this normal? Im not sure if i had this before or if it started after i installed my Corsa exhaust. Should i take it back to my muffler shop?
Edit: I drive a 6MT GT PP

Is the sound only prevalent at a certain RPM?

I had a similar issue when i put on my "cut and bolt" Xpipe on. Stopped but a shop and had them weld it and never had the issue again.

Check the emergency brake cable where it is secured to the driver side of the transmission tunnel.

I just went through an annoying metallic rattling "click-clack" sound that only occurred when the car was cold and when leaving from a dead stop. It would make a rattle sound that only occurred for the first few seconds or minutes of driving and it would go away.

Looked under the car, checked all mounts, shook the exhaust, etc.; could not replicate the noise at all UNLESS it met the specific conditions noted above. Took the car to my Ford Service Center, was able to replicate the issue once the car sat for a bit and once it was on the lift the corrective fix was to adjust the e-brake cable.

No more noise. They told me it was the first time they ever heard of such an issue and they could not find any TSB on it either.

Could be a loose clip or hangar with the exhaust....also, I would check underneath the car for loose retention pins/bolts, brackets loose...experienced a lot of that with my 06 and 11.

But keep in mind...we all love our mustangs but this is Ford....I have never had a mustang with a decent body panel fit or noise/rattle free from the factory...seeing it a lot with my 15....had a loose exhaust hangar from the factory and a trunk that was 1" too high on one side...same for the hood

Good old ford...

Had the same type noise start up on my 2015 convertible with a Gibson cat-back after driving up some steep hills with curves and having to downshift constantly to prevent from lugging the engine. It sounds like a thin metal heat shield vibrates against something when accelerating from low speeds. It was intermittent at first but is there all the time now. Unable to find the source of it as yet.

Mine has the same issue with Roush axlebacks.

I know what is causing it. Where the muffler tips clamp on to the muffler end pipe is where the sound is coming from. The enlarged hole of the tip is a bit deformed due to overtightening of clamps. So if you try to hit the muffler tip with your fist, then you will hear the buzzing sound. I changed the clamp with a new accuseal clamp and the sound is still there. You may have to do a trial and error by hitting the area under the clamps (that enlarged tube of the muffler tips under the clamp) with a hammer to change the shape so slightly until the buzz goes away. For me, it was my passenger side muffler tip that is buzzing.

Check the flex joint in the passenger side header. The exhaust shop I used welded everything at install to avoid shifting and what-not. I had an annoying metal rattle after the exhaust shop installed my FRPP Sport Cat Back that developed on the way home. It continued to occur on starts and low revs. I could it hear when driving. I took it back the next morning and when they had it on the lift they showed me that whey they applied pressure to the flex joint the noise went away. They applied a clamp to the flex joint and quieted it down. However, I still have a rattle on cold starts. Once it warms up no problem.

Unfortunately at this point my exhaust shop says it's the header and I haven't taken it back to my dealer yet because I'm pretty sure they are going to blame the cat back which means I would be paying for a new header and install. Additionally, with the way my dealer's service department has been thus far I have very little confidence in them taking apart my full exhaust and re installing. Just to adjust the stock muffler when it was new they said they would need to send it to an exhaust shop and have yet to fix a rattle. Good luck!

5.0AVP- The muffler shop (James & Dean Muffler & Brake in Brookfield, IL) who installed my Gibson cat-back says that one of the first things he usually does is to eliminate that restrictive flex joint and refashion a new transition pipe to the resonator, H, or X pipe connection area. I didn't have that done initially because I wanted to be able to revert to the oem exhaust easily if the Gibson wasn't to my liking. Now based upon your experience I'm thinking of going back and having it done. Thanks.

DropTop66- Thank you for suggesting a possible solution. I think I will head to your muffler shop and have them do the same thing. I appreciate it!!

Found the source of the vibrating noise! It was the flex pipe right after the passenger side catalytic converter.
My shop told me to try the dealership before going to a muffler shop and hacking up the exhaust. Im thinking the dealer wont approve the repair since i installed the exhaust already. I cant put my stock exhaust and take it because i had to cut it for it to fit in the car. What do you guys think? Don't even try?

Thanks for posting this. I crawled under my car today and hit the cat with my hand on the passenger side and it made the vibrating noise. Couldn't quite tell it was the flex pipe or not, but that is definitely the area the noise is coming from.

I'm into the dealership next Friday to get my AC fixed (finally!) and will have them take a look at that too.

I'd say you're likely to have problems trying to get it fixed under warranty. I have an MF axle back for my car that I am going to install after they fix this for me.

Do you by chance have video of the noise or know of a similar video with the noise prevalent? I have a automatic 2015 GT, and it makes a noise that I think is similar to your description, but when I asked the dealer to check for the flex pipe, they said there was nothing wrong. I don't trust them very much and want to figure out what the exact issue. I can send you my video of the noise I have, if that's any help? Any input from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on my 2015 gt. I had to remove the cat on that side to remove the trans for a new clutch and found that the joint was very lose and made a rattle noise when you tapped it. It sounds like a broken cat sound but its the flex joint. The cat is perfect as I could see down the pipe and its intact. No leaks but rattles at different rpms. Have been looking for a replacement part or just that bend in solid pipe but no dice as yet. If you guys find a solution please let us all know Thanks, Mark
