PS4S is not superior to ECS02. /Thread.

Street. But sort of an emphasis on the grip part. I think what I want is in the "Max Performance Summer" category TireRack uses. I still have RE71R on another set of wheels that I'll use for track or weekend fun. But, I need something I can daily in the summer and not have to worry about getting caught out in wet conditions. Is this to be a track tire that can handle water or just a street tire with good street grip that can handle water?
If you're looking for a jack-of-all-trades tire, it'll end up being pretty mediocre at everything. Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, I'd suggest getting two sets of tires. One for street/wet and one for track.
And actually I already have a set of A/S tires for winter, which I'm using now. So, technically this would be a 3rd set hahaIs this to be a track tire that can handle water or just a street tire with good street grip that can handle water?

I have the Conti DWS06 extreme contact and love them. They grip great in the dry, in the wet the grip great and don't hydroplane easily, and are smooooth. The respond better than the PS4S imho and are cheaper!! However, I'm running 255/40r19 in the front and 285/30r19 in the rear. I don't know if they come in your size, but definately worth a look. Another tire you may want to consider is the Conti DW02.I am looking for recommendations for a summer tire to fit 18x9.5 wheels I am considering.
Specific requirements:
- Supreme dry grip
- Capable wet grip in the rain (*I don't want to be hydroplaning in the rain over 45 mph like I am with RE71R type tires)
- Close to 27.1" diameter to keep speedometer somewhat close to accurate
- Tread width 9-9.5" (not section width)
I really want Michelin PS4S but they don't make a tire that is close to my specifications. The sizes are either too short or wide of a tread width per Tire Rack.
Ideally I'd like this level of grip. I want a sticky tire that will put the power down and corner well (handling focus). I've used Firehawk Indy 500s in the past but I'm not sure it's up to the grip level I want.
Any suggestions?
In that case, I'd think anything in the 200-350tw range should be fine. To each their own, but I wouldn't be too concerned with "street grip" as it's very unlikely to even reach the grip limits of decent tires on streets (legally or otherwise). I'd almost want something with less dry grip to have a little tail-happy fun when safe to do so.Street. But sort of an emphasis on the grip part.
