Variant wheels

Interested in opinions regarding Variant wheels. There krypton wheel looks like a beautiful set up but I haven’t seen any reviews on Variant. It looks like they are US made and forged for a good price.

They look cool, that's for sure but they are not forged or made in the US. They remind me of the Vorsteiner VFF-105 and VFF-110 models

They are flow forged/ Some people say rotary forged or even spun forged. They just came up with a fancy proprietary sounding name for a process that is widely used in the industry.

Lastly, It looks like they are made overseas as many wheel companies do. Note the warning labels on the rolling machines. It is not in english. Looks Mandarin.

However their finishing department could be based here in the US. Probably near a major port like the ones in the LA area or here in the bay area. That would give the warehouse stocking ability while offering the customer custom finishes in a quick turn around time like what we are currently used to and demand.

I work in custom design in a global supply chain industry. I do this everyday.

FWIW, There's nothing wrong with Flow Forged wheels. I have 2 sets of them, The M600 and FS-06 by MRR Wheels.

Eventually I'll step up to a full forged set for track but for the time being there are other priorities.

I think I’m going to stick with the M600 after doing more research. They are half the price and I like them about the same. Now I just have to decide on satin black or paying $400 more for gloss black. Car is white with gloss black stripes, mirror caps and rear spoiler.

Satin supposedly holds up better than gloss to real world use. I thought I wanted gloss and settled for satin and I’m actually really happy with the satin look once I saw the wheels in person, and now 3 years later I think satin was probably the right choice all along. There is a reason satin is the default for most of these wheel manufacturers.
