Hmmm, I guess I'll have to think this over as simply transferring my current BAD BOSS plates wouldn't work at all.

I'm looking to get something with "GIDDYUP" in it...not sure what is available in CO. I doubt GIDDYUP is available...not sure what to do since I'm only allowed 7 characters :-(

Can't do zeros, but can do an "O"....

Some ideas:

GDYUP5O <- 5.0 and 50 years!

'Only' 7 characters? My commie state allows 6, and you can't have leading numbers or mix and match letters and numbers (why?). The letters I, O, U and Q can only be part of correctly spelled words (for example LQQK is not allowed). Again, why? Mix of puritanism and overreaching commies.

You're lucky.

I'd apply for GIDDYUP just in case, you never know. One thing my state does have is an online checker to see whats available, but you never know til you try.

Man that stinks! I guess I can't complain...was hoping for 8 characters...I think Indiana allowed 7 with a space, but in CO a space is considered a character...oh well...

Yeah I don't think we have an online checker...that would be nice. There are lot of restrictions on ours as well, like can't have 3 alpha, 4 numeric; 5 numeric, 2 alpha....etc...I think they are restricting all the types of plates they have issued over the years as non-personalized.

CO is special because when you buy a plate, it is yours forever and they just keep issuing stickers, unlike when I lived in Indiana where they issue people new plates every 5 years (and change the style for some reason).

Yes MA you can keep em for life too. There are some green ones still out there (green lettering) that are from like early 80s I believe that are required on the back only and grandfathered in, most are severly cracked and faded but those who have them hang on to them since you don't need one in the front. Anything since then is red letter and required on both front and back, but its yours for life.

The big thing here in the 80s and 90s were the political hacks and those connected to them with 3 and 4 digit plates. If you had a plate like that it meant you were "in". LOL. We even had one hack with a "BUS" plate that I believe had the single number 1 on it. And this was on his car, not a bus mind you. It was all just a coincidence, no special favors. :)

Ha yeah, we have those old Green with white lettered plates that you cannot get anymore....all were front and back though. I like the old green ones but now the standard is white with green lettering. I think for my Jeep I'm going to get later on I'm going to buy a pair of Green ones on eBay, then apply for custom plate to match it...though it would have to be personalized probably, since they don't let you do personalized in the old standard formats (XXX-123, etc.). One thing I've noticed since living here is if you're behind someone with the old green plates, they're probably going to be driving slow! :headbonk:

I was reading through the form, and I can submit it now and I get 6 choices to pick (thought there's only 5 spaces on the form...weird), so GIDDYUP will be my first choice for sure. Looking for any other good ones to put on there just in case, other than the two I posted. It's nice too once I get it approved is when I pay, and they will hold onto my plate for 12 months...I better have my convertible by then! LOL

That first one is perfect for you LE owners

The third one for sure, and maybe the fourth one are great but likely wouldn't fly in most states. My form has where I am required to give an explanation of what it means....might be tricky! LOL...although, 420 in Colorado shouldn't be seen as a bad thing anymore :p

Same here. 1-6 characters plus a hyphen or a space.

1ST PONY

is what I would love since this is going to by my first Mustang.
