Ho ho,

German media today is reporting prices and performance of the new Mustang in Europe ( one of many articles: http://www.autozeitung.de/auto-news/2015-ford-mustang-preis-usa-preise-us-import-sportwagen ) . Surprisingly the V8 seems to get detuned at least in Europe.

The articles state 418 PS (410 hp) instead of 441 PS (435 hp) and less torque.
The Ecobost numbers are correct - 314 PS (310 hp).

Does anyone have an idea why they could have done this? I“m a bit disappointed to get a less powerful engine in Germany, especially if you count in the extra weight of the 2015 model! :(
Minus 25 hp means we basically get a 2011 engine.

More than likely its just a tune, you would be getting the same 2015 engine as every one else. All you need to do is change the tune after you get the car to free those 25 horses.

Yes, I didn“t mean they deliver the real 2011 engine^^

But what could be the reason for this hp decrease?
Emission? Block not strongh enough for sustained top speed driving on the autobahn? Insurance rating?

Dont really feel bad...Almost 100% of the cars we get from Europe (if we even get them at all) are de-tuned, have had technology and or features removed.

Emissions. European markets tax cars based on CO2 emissions. Eurospec Mustang GT's come in at 248 g/km CO2; U.S. spec GT's are at 320 g/km. I haven't the slightest idea what changes were made to cut CO2 that drastically, but that's why the hp is lower in Eurospec.

Interesting! Do you have a source?
German Ford Website still says CO2-Emissionen (kombiniert): 320 g/km

I hope any changes they made are only software based. That could be "corrected" quickly and cheap

depends on the reason for the loss of power:
detuned for emissions-laws just by Software?
detuned for noise-legislation: you would Need a new exhaust-system

lots of speculation here
