The first '1' I think is some kind of factory code, then the date in yyyy-mm-dd format. The final four digits are some kind of internal factory code not related to time of day or vehicle count on that particular day, but in some way a reference to the order of production ...... apparently.
So do we know what the date itself represents, and also the meaning of the term "blend"?

Has anyone experienced issues with the window sticker site timing out or saying "Can't reach page"?

I've tried my VIN and also VINs of cars on Autotrader and all come up with the same result...

As far as I'm aware (and I must stress, I'm no expert and this is all educated guesswork) the 'blend' date is the actual date the car is scheduled to be built, as opposed to the initial date that shows up on VISTA which seems to be an approximate date based on the Monday of the week the car is scheduled to be built. My initial date on VISTA was Monday 14th Sept (i.e my car was scheduled to be built in the week beginning 14th). When the window sticker became active on the 10th Sept the 'blend' date was 17th, i.e. the approximate date of the 14th had been modified to a specific date of the 17th. The final four digits of my 'blend' number were 2405, which is some kind of (unknown) reference to the order of build on that particular day. ETIS has since updated to confirm the car was built on the 17th ..... but as we know, 'built' doesn't necessarily mean 'finished'

If I understand things correctly 'blend' is a term used in manufacturing/supply chain situations to refer to the sequence of operations required to bring lots of individual parts together to form a whole. In the case of a car this is obviously a very complex sequence, especially if you're trying to optimise speed of production I should imagine. It relies on the correct part for the correct car arriving at the correct point on the assembly line at the exact same time the car gets there. So I guess it should be no surprise that occasionally this sequencing breaks down, which is probably why some build dates get pushed back or brought forward. For example I think Croyde originally had the same initial VISTA date as me, but his schedule must have been pushed back at some point. I suppose some cars (the majority) go through to schedule and others get held up or re-scheduled depending on circumstances which is why cars ordered on the same day could actually be built weeks apart.

As I say, this is all an educated guess so don't take it as gospel

Did you ever rent a Camaro from that place in Essex?
Unfortunately dates didn't work out for making the most of the hire

Gave that a go, didn't work. So how do guys find which vessel the cars on...
Email [email protected] they should be able to tell you, most peoples VINS allow them to find the vessel they're on too as ETIS (Or vista?) gets updated with the tracking.
