I was just driving and got to where I was going and my engine temp was hot and I checked my gauges and my inlet air temp was at 115°F anyone know what could be the issue. Just out of the blue issue

Inlet air temp is not an indication of a problem unless the sensor is defective. Then you will get a Check Engine Light. It's a combined temperature of the ambient "cold" air entering the intake tube plus whatever heat-soak the engines external heat is passing through the inlet tube at the sensor. So for example, if you just came off the highway and are just sitting there idling the intake air temp will usually rise due to engine compartment heat transfer. Engine coolant temp is what you should be concerned with if you suspect engine overheat.

Nicely stated. Many falsely conclude that a CAI (Cold Air Intake) will make IAT's lower and they can...when the car is moving. But not when sitting in place compared to the closed airbox.

Well damn, thanks. Sorry i don’t know all the technical things and I’m just worried about my car anyways I appreciate it a lot

Was it just the inlet air temp that was hot, or was it the cylinder head temp that was hot? Was the coolant temp gauge hot?

If it was just the inlet air temp, wouldn't be worried.

Ok so my coolant is below the minimum line, the only issue is I’m about 10 miles from my house and idk if I should drive all the way back with it being so hot

How far below? If it’s a tick below it’s not going to be an issue. If it’s seriously low or the tank is dry, there’s a problem.

Do you have the apps you can look and see what the cyl head temp is? My car sees up to 216* typically during stop and go. My IAT’s will be anywhere from 95*-110* with stop and go traffic on an 80-85* day with the stock intake.

What are you referring to as being so hot? If it’s your IAT’s, don’t worry about them. That is not the same as engine or coolant temp. If your temp gauge is showing high or your cylinder head temps are high, then no, I wouldn’t drive it.

If it is slightly below the minimum and you watch your temp gauge on the 10 miles home(the temp gauge under the tachometer/RPM gauge) , and don't dog the car you will likely be fine. If it stays within the normal operating temp you will be fine. Run the heater inside the car, and if it goes too high, pull over till it cools.

If you are a little below you shouldn't worry. If there is no coolant in there, then you may have an issue.

Was it just the intake air temp that you saw high, or was it the gauge below your RPMs that was high?

Cyl head temp is at about 155

Exactly how hot is hot? What indication do you have of anything out of the ordinary? Any warning in the dash?
I have the engine temp light that’s on right now

Anywhere in the normal range technically is fine, even if a bit high. If it's pegged past the "high line" then be worried.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
