I stopped by my local dealer and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a GT350 on the showroom. I have a 2016 AG, black roof, black stripes on order with another dealer and it's scheduled to be here Dec. 5-11th. This is the first GT350 I've seen in person, I was impressed with the final product until I started to look more closely and found several flaws. I am not sure that I will accept my car if it has these issues. Not sure what to do and I don't mean to be dramatic, but it is upsetting that my 2013 Boss 302 came off the line in perfect condition and that this one came off in terrible condition. 1) The front stripes are not correctly spaced, which is super noticeable because there is a crease in the metal right down the middle of the bumper.

2) The trunk has major gaps, the rear bumper has gaps...

3) The paint on the rear bumper seams to have a few pieces of hair or cloth or something in it.

Pardon the iPhone pics, but thought it was still worth posting them up. As I write this, I realize that I may be being a bit picky - though I know I would be upset every time I wash the car and see these mistakes. Does anybody know if the dealer would be able to fix the mistakes, possible as a "due bill"? I also included a picture in the album of the vin, perhaps this was an early build and they have since corrected these issues... I am a big fan of Ford and really proud that they are helping to shape the performance car world with a road race inspired car like this - I know they can do better.
I haven't even read past your post yet, and I agree with you 1000%. I know these cars are not $200k lambos but I with you cannot take this flaw crap Everytime I wash this car. After 18 mustangs and the worst of them was my 2008 Shelby gt vert with the stripes being wrippled under the fake hood scoop because they put the scoop on before the stripes cured drove me nuts and I sold it. Your not being picky, your just being real IMO. Spending hard earned$$ for something that should be more than average. To me the $50,000 is 1,000,000 and I cannot take that. I have sold cars for less. Ford likes to boast about what materials they're putting in these new cars but most car companies quality control is betting looked after by Helen Keller. Ford is not the only ones though. My Hellcat had flaws that shouldn't of passed. I guess the dream of watching how it's made dream cars and using a gap key on spacing and what scrutiny they put they're cars through is not in our future.

Yeah but how did he get them all to agree on anything ...especially quality control issues.
All kidding a side Ford used to make a horrible product back in the 80's and 90's and they have come a long long long way . Today's product is night and day from those horrible years.

My dad has been in business for over 45 years in the body shop business doing repairs and service on everything from a KIA to $150000.00 Mercedes Benz and bmw. They all have OEM flaws and fitment issues. It's man made. And if you think a 1.5 million dollar car is flawless guess again. It's even more flawed when it's hand made. I get tired of hearing people say imports are better at everything else. That's not true. I agree with some of what everyone is saying but no car is perfect.
Exactly, reads no different than the Porsche forums. There's always a few cars with bad quality and dissapointed people. The 991 GT3 had to be recalled entirely for engine replacement, customers lost their cars for months.

So its probably a given that first year release of a new design will have these quality issues, the more importat thing here is whether these issues continue in the course of that model run and that the quality issues get addressed. When they don't then one has every right to question the company's comment to improve its manufacturing processes to eliminate the root cause of these problems, the arguement that it's not a $70K car is not at all relevant.

Here's how I look at it. I have a favorite restaurant. I've been going there for a long time. If they start burning my food, I'm going to say something; not because I don't like them - it's just the opposite. I want them to be better because I like them.

I don't see anything wrong with speaking up - we should challenge them and they should want to improve. If we have an employee who doesn't want to be challenged and makes no effort to improve...they don't last.

Hmmm... I see one post from one guy who hasn't even received his car yet, disgusted with minor, trivial issues on a car marked off at a dealership and now everyone is ready to bash Ford for poor fit n finish... Makes a lotta damn sense.

Get a grip people... Examine your own wheels when you get them and then gripe if you find issues.

Seems ignorant to fuss over something you don't have or have seen in person. Rank-in-file haters...

I'll blame this on Ford, too. We've had waaayy too much time to think about this!

My car has a few minor body fitment issues but I bought it off the lot I knew what I was getting and it wasn't that big a deal, I didn't want anything to be fixed by my dealership or anyone else for that matter. I like it just fine as is.
There was one PP car that I looked at where the paint was chipped away on the pass side front fender edge from contact with the door during opening. I pointed this out to the salesman but wonder if it was ever addressed as the car is still on the lot for sale and that was two and a half months ago.
So no hating here, just my two cents.

These kind of flaws are pretty prevalent across all S550 models. Been countless threads on build quality since the car hit the streets. I'm just wondering why Ford hasn't clamped down yet on some of these common build quality problems? It's the 2nd year of production now. I believe most of it is assembly line issues. Slow the line down 10% and build quality would probably increase noticeably. Slappin' them together too fast without enough assembly finesse!

Yes it can be on the assy line for some issues but not all. I worked in quality assurance for a well known major aircraft manufacturer for 35 years and have seen it all. It can be alot of thing like suppliers, design issues, tooling, and actual workmanship on the line. The prime company has a lot to integrate and if all the up-stream processes don't have their issues worked out problems become magnified during final assembly and are even harder to control with an increased production rate like you mention.

True, some of the quality issues might be supplier caused, etc as you've mentioned. But a lot of these quality issues are obviously assembly line driven, as many owners get things like paint flaws, misaligned panels, etc fixed by the dealership after delivery. If those things were done right during build and assembly, then the dealerships wouldn't be correcting these things after the car was sold.
