So I didn't opt for the nav system in my GT, but I have noticed looking at the other threads here that there's an SD card that you need for the maps.

So if I wanted to "upgrade" my system, do I just need to buy the SD card, or is there extra components that are hard-wired into the system?

I don't mind using my phone, was just a thought...

As I understand you would need to have it flashed to enable navigation and have the sd card. There are people who can do this flash but it's not exactly Ford supported.

Hi deathmonkey,

Currently, navigation can only be added to a vehicle at the time of build, and it takes more than just an SD card for it to work. Ajax is correct that we don't support unauthorized additions of navigation; this is mainly due to licensing agreements.

Let me know if you have any questions!

You're also missing the gps portion of the nav. Not sure what the technical term is.

All Mustangs even the base Mustang with the small screen gave a GPS reciever. That is how turn by turn directions from Sync Services knows where your car is.
