Another thing to consider is to isolate the speakers with fade and balance. Have someone in the trunk switch the wires while you listen in the car. Good Luck.

If someone was able to dig up specs on the factory speakers, we could then put in equivalently spec'd speakers for better sound quality. I haven't found anything showing wattage, sensitivity, etc for comparison though.
One of our mechanics told me they are Sony, but as to the specs, we didn't get that far into it.

Got them right, they do seem louder and much clearer but I have for sure lost bass, probably the worst thing I want. Oh well, time for a sub somehow...

Just finished installing the rears, wish I could've done the doors today. Now the back of the car sounds better than the front lol. I know you're not gonna get a true feel without actually being in the space but here's a clip playing some skrillex

I have only followed this thread hit and miss. Anyone here done (or recall member's who did) speaker upgrade to the base stereo? I'm curious of the estimate of sound quality improvement for this vs. putting in (theoretical at this point) a quality aftermarket head unit. Since no bezel kit is confirmed to actually be in the works yet, this is a theoretical comparison.

But I am trying to decide if waiting a year plus for a $400 ish bezel kit (if it even happens) and the expense of a Pioneer 8100NEX head unit is a better idea due to the better quality audio signal and control.

If I decided not to hope for the 'new head unit' unicorn, I would follow this other unicorn path...

I guess I have an affinity for unicorns! :headbonk:

I'm using the base stereo, LOC, Rockford 400/4, image dynamics ctx65cs up front and Polk db651 in the rear. I'm using the app jetAudio plus as my Bluetooth media player because it has a 20 band eq and my radio eq is set completely flat. The sound is fantastic for still using a factory radio. Once a dash kit is available, I do plan to install my pioneer 5600bhs double din from my last car.

If you have those then no, you don't need a LOC.
