My wife has a 2011 Edge. Ford has twice mailed us an updated NAV SD card free of charge.

How often do they mail it to you? Once a year?

Totally confused...my dealer and comments in Forum imply that updates for Navigation in the Mustang is via an SD card. I just looked at the Ford's Navigation Update website, and it shows the updates being entered via a DVD. "Insert the DVD and follow screen instructions". The Ford website shows the 2015 Mustang as being one of the vehicles that uses a DVD for updating.
The newest version is V7.0 for $149.

From the confusion that exists within Ford Corporation concerning ordering a new Mustang, perhaps Ford doesn't know that Mustangs are being updated via SD cards rather than DVDs!
Some Ford's have the internal hard drive to be able to rely on a CD for updates

Every MFT installation I know of stores the maps and updates via SD card, including my '15 Mustang and my wife's '12 Explorer.

Mustang uses a SD card for Navigation...even the tho' Ford website includes the 2015 Mustang for ordering a Navigation DVD!
The latest 2014 SD card is labeled 'A5'.

If you are getting delivery in December-on, you should be getting A6 with your new car. Check the plastic pod holding the new SD card,
if it says A5...ask your dealer for an A6 replacement. If they are 'out', insist that the dealer get a free A6 from Ford"
Otherwise, it is quite a hassle trying to get an A6 aftermarket.

The 'A5' can be purchased new from eBay for as little as $50...but most offers range $60->$100.
The designation seems to be related to the calendar year: 'A3'-2012; 'A4'-2013; 'A5'-2014; 'A6' for 2015

The Mustang Handbook(s) only mention the SD card. I have been searching and have not found any mention anywhere on how to actually update Navigation. I have repeatedly encountered companies selling 2015 Mustang Navigation updates but they all are on DVDs! So I assume that they don't really know about the 2015 SD cards. My dealer was no help, I knew more about (limited) the Navigation system than they did.
I am wondering why Ford has no searchable information about their Navigation system updating.
I just looked at Ford's Navigation site. They have multiple types of updates depending on model. The 2015 Mustang isn't even a choice on the site yet. Rest assured, it updates via SD card. It's the same as my 2011 Explorer was and as my 2014 Explorer is. All MyFord Touch models use SD cards.

The S197 Nav was DVD based. The S550 Nav is SD card based.

We have receivied two updated SD cards in the mail in the three years we have owned the Edge. The last one was about eight months ago.

I have noticed that the SD Card is slightly outdated for me -- it says that the speed limits on NYC surface streets is 30 mph, when it's actually changed to 25 as of November 2014. No big deal.

And yes, the Nav system is SD Card based. My dealer showed me the SD Card and asked if I wanted to input it myself or if I'd let them do it; they did it, but they gave me the packaging that the SD Card comes in and I kept that with my paperwork for the car.

Can anyone verify they have an A6 SD card in hand? Mine came with an A5.

Covered somewhere in another thread, but everyone has an A5. A6 isn't out yet apparently.

I too got the A5 and my dealer said he thinks I would have to buy the new ones when they come out. if we are supposed to get it free lets see it in writing. I don't think we should have to pay for it on a car this new. we should have been given the latest update.. i.e one done in Sept 2014.

Navigation SD Card contact?

When you got the A5 Navigation SD card (in a plastic bubble pack), what contact information came with it? Was there a manufacturer listed? Internet Address? ,etc.

It appears that all 2015 Mustangs coming with the Navigation Package are receiving the nearly year-old A5 SD card. The 'five-year free' subscription is only for the SirusXM traffic report, not mapping upgrades. The A5 is being sold on eBay discounted to $50. So it is not exclusively sold through Ford.

I wanted to find out when the new A6 SD card may be released, and where I might be able to get it at a discounted price.
