I just feel ford did a poor job being this is the 50th anniversary. They should have been at dealers on April 17th 50 years from the date the original Mustang was available to the general public. The first mustang actually was delivered on April 15th 1964

There is only one 50th anniversary, and Ford could have done a lot better job for Fords flagships 50th anniversary

April to November is a big difference
The first Mustang was a 65 sold in April 64 as you noted, and very few people got one. I saw no less than three 2015's driving around that week. Lets go back a little bit. Production actually started in March, and the 289 HiPo wasn't introduced until the fall. If you want to follow the lines of nostalgia this year, then you would have got a Mustang body on a fusion frame with a mild V6 and a very weak V8. Then this fall you would get the high performance coupe. Oh wait, the new high performance GT coupe is coming this fall, right on schedule.
Normal 65 Production started in... wait for it....August of 64. Hmmm 50 years later, what started this week? Oh, and the fall brought us a GT350R...maybe the announcement will happen...50 years later.

Another point is I wouldn't call a car that is 3.5% of vehicle sales a flagship. It may be their most recognizable brand, but the F-series trucks would be the flagship.

I'm a true Mustang nut (maybe a nutjob, depending on who you ask) My Birthday was in June, I really wish I could keep celebrating like Ford is doing. If there was one big party; most people would have to miss it, the excitement is over in a day, these forums would be empty, and you would still be waiting on your car.

I agree Ford could have done a better job marketing this car. Unfortunately the Mustang is not a major portion of Ford's bottom line. Going by 2013 sales, over 850,000 F-150s and over 260,000 Fusions vs. a little over 77,000 Mustangs. Given, it's a good chunk of change and an iconic model, but not where their priorities lie. Personnally I'm impressed at the amount of engineering and planning they devoted to this car. The board room must have been full of intense battles over the direction and funding of this project.

I agree. Big Bang and shows about the 50th Anniversary and the all new 2015 Mustang in April 2014....

Here in the Edmonton, Alberta area NOT ONE dealer had balloons out. No BBQ organized in that week. We drove around from one dealer to the next. And don't get me wrong. The dealers here in Canada could have made their own little organized celebration in this week. Until now, most dealers have no glue what prices or order guides are there for the 2015 Mustang nor know they when production starts for the S550.

No idea why people are saying that FORD made a good job. That's one of a poor job they did with the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang.

I know. You guys down south had a lot of parties to go to. (Factory tours. Dealer events). We did go to the Edmonton car show. The red S550 was protected like "Fort Knox" from the security guards and black ropes to keep people away from the car. But that was all what we could see. Lucky we got some pictures to make. We saw also the all new Mercedes CLA. Guess what? No security around. The Ladies around actually asked us to get in the car, open the hood and trunk. And the CLA was fully loaded. Kids got in and out and played with every button they could find. That's how a car company should deal with future customers and their new car!

But again. I like the S550. That's why I ordered one without touching it.
Ford tried to do events in Canada, but you wouldn't take Justin Bieber back, so they canceled:D

Part of it of course is because Fusions and F150s are practical daily-drivers, where Mustang is mainly considered as toy :)

Ford had to watch their marketing on 2015 Mustangs because they need to get rid of a lot of 2014 Mustangs :)

I just went on fords web page, put in my zip code, and searched for 2015's in dealer stock

38 2015 fusions in dealer stock
3 2015 Taurus in dealer stock
12 2015 fiestas in stock
5 2015 Z Max in stock
7 2015 explorers in stock
8 2015 Expeditions in stock
6 2015 super duty's in stock
10 2015 transits

all are 2015's, and all show in local dealer stock, so why no mustangs on it's 50th anniversary
I just searched 02201 and there are 5 2015 Mustangs showing. 3 GTs, 1 V6 and 1 eco.

Let everyone know what you ordered and what dealer. I'm sure someone with a later date would live to scoop yours up if it's equipped the same as one they had ordered

at least it's been 'lighter' the past couple years.

I just want to be able to drive with the windows down and not freeze my ass off. Then, I'll be happy :)

New Model Scheduling Timing - Managing Customer Expectations
Current practice is to not schedule retail orders until the early production units have passed a number of postproduction quality checks.
Once “OK to Ship” has been received, we begin to schedule retail orders within
allocation. By doing so, we improve the likelihood finished vehicles will be immediately entered into the transportation system.
Thank you for sharing that. :)

OKTB is 9/9 or thereabouts if I remember correctly right? So if scheduling resumes on 9/11 (or shortly thereafter) I can hope that my order gets pulled (7/10) and scheduled in mid to late September and hopefully built by the end of that month if everything went smoothly and I got lucky. Maybe 4 weeks to the dealer and with some luck I will be driving it the first week of November. I will keep my fingers crossed. :)

I've already prepared myself for a November delivery date. At this point I would just be happy for the magazine guys to get their hands on one so I will have something new to read about.
