Squatters take over Georgia home after owner dies
Hello; This is disturbing for several reasons. I could make a wild guess as to how this "squatter" thing has become so common. Common to the point you may take a long vacation or need to work away from home and have you home taken over.
I have seen financial horror stories for owners who can take months to get squatters out and then have large expenses for repair. In one the owner was stuck with the water bill even tho apparently by law the owner could not have the water turned off.
The ordinary sort of squatting is bad enough but this one just 48 hours after the fathers death is doubly wrong.

Ogallala Aquifer May Last Less Than 20 Years—And No One’s Talking About It
Hello; I taught various science classes for over 32 years from 1970. In many of the classes I made a point of discussing, showing videos and keeping track of this vital resource. The lowering of the water level is not recent news. Has been a story for several decades. Heck, I stopped teaching in 2004 and it had been a serious "looming" problem for decades by then.
I have mentioned the aquifer in threads on this form over the years. Often to try to point out what a real societal threat may be compared to "global warming".

You can't shut off utilities on a "tenant" and once a squatter takes residence, they have tenant rights. Like in the video, the way to get them out is to squat on the squatter.

Another ship lost due to EV's entering BBQ mode.

I'll bet it's going to cost mega bucks to insure ships carrying EV's.

Hello; Unfortunately, I have not been keeping up with these things as much since last November. It is not as tho the issues have gone away have they. Some states still have an ICE sales ban on the books. Some federal programs still in play. The EV + Green agenda is not finished.

To your point, I wonder if a client can request that a shipper not have EV's on a ship???

Hello; I follow that there are strange to me rules about this. What i still do not completely follow in how this in not simple trespass and/or breaking & entry. These cases are not some legit renter getting behind on the rent. I will watch the video.

Once a person takes "possession" of your residence in California, they are now a tenant. That means they could do as little as hang their clothes in the closet.

The guy has one story of a family that went on a two week vacation. They came home with their kids and there was a guy sitting on their couch. The guy hurried his kids out and called the cops.

The cop told the guy to take his family and find a place to stay because he could not remove the guy from their house since there was not witness or evidence of a break in.

The family moved into a hotel for over a year. They couldn't even turn off the utilities because it's against the law to do so to a "tenant". Yes, the guy now had tenant rights. Also, if you turn off utilities you then allow hte squatter the ability to turn on utilities in their name making it even harder to get them out.

It cost the family over $100k to get their house back.

Hello; During my two divorces I was advised to put an ad in the paper announcing something like I was no longer responsible for debts of my soon to be ex-wife.
I and any home owner will have a title, payment records, property tax payments, insurance and other legal documentation we bought and paid for our places.
Some guy/gal just catches us gone for a while and breaks in (even if they fix the broken window) and gets rights. I do not see why we cannot post our homes as not for rent the way a truck can be posted "not for hire" or some such.
Maybe somehow have on file with lawyers, the police, the courts or some such a list of legal occupants.
I follow how a real landlord who rents a place ought not to be able to shut off power, water or heat. I get the need for proper eviction of a "real" renter. Even a simple minded judge ought to figure out what a "squatter" is.

This is California. Squatters have all the rights. The guy in the video teaches people how to squat on the squatters. Basically, if they leave the house, you break back in (to your own house) and change the locks. Now, they can't get you out, because you've taken up residence. It's a shit show.

Hello; I may have seen a TV show of some sort about the guy or someone like him.
Gives me an idea. try to fix some sort of hidden way to get into your own home to make it easier. Also keep a set of door locks stashed away along with the tools to install.

Last question for now. I have things of monetary and personal value inside my house. Does a squatter take possession of you stuff when they move in?
