This might help:

Turn all the nannies OFF.

Put it in S.

Brake boost to around 7-8 psi.

Once you are set, swiftly give it gas to flash the RPMs while letting off the brake smoothly. You want to catch the motor on the upswing of boost.

You should get some scratches but that's just perfect. The tires are just letting you know they are at maximum traction.

Try to think of getting on the gas and letting off the brake as quickly and smoothly letting out a clutch while feeding power.

Now go run some 4.X's.

Torrie,

I recently had a really sad day when the E85 went away at the station near me.

Well, yesterday afternoon I finally got my buddy to give me his rotary drum pump. We also took a virgin 55 gal drum to Midwest City and filled it up with E85. I should be set for the next 13 fill ups or 4,000 miles. <much excite!>

I won't bug you to finalize the last E30 tune until that turbosmart stuff shows up.

I just couldn't handle the loss of power- you gave me a taste and I was hooked, lol.

I also noticed the car was very restrained in the cool air this morning, seems like the ECU was managing the output. It was the coolest day by far, around 67* Ambient. I expected a nice boost in power but it was pretty much the same. I know the culprit lies in Ford's mysterious voo-doo. Either way it still clicked off a 4.9 0-60 on 91.
(for those watching the 0-60's).

[Just a note so I don't forget]I also want to dial in some shift point stuff. It should be my last tuning go-around as I do not plan any additional engine related modifications until next Spring at the earliest.

Do I need to change any parts to run E85 or just a tune?

What are the benefits of it?

There is a station near me that has E85.

You won't run straight E85. You essentially blend about 4 gallons of E85 per tank of 91 or 93 (E30). Nothing other than a tune is needed. For me, it was a huge difference (as was the intercooler).

Some people don't like the idea of blending the fuels as it's not scientifically accurate, to which I agree. However, I feel that as long as I er on the side of not going UNDER the target mixture or over the recommended ethanol ratio, that it really doesn't matter and I will just have a bit of overhead for detonation protection.

I plan to do an intercooler within the next few weeks.

I like the idea of E85, and the safety that comes with keeping it mixed with a majority of 93 octane.

Definitely something to consider!

Thank you

Just make sure you have a reliable fill station and potential fill stations where ever you go. I got screwed when the place I was getting mine from just up and stopped selling it. Thankfully the rest of the city has it all over the place.

I ended up just making my own local supply so I could continue to fill up without driving 30 minutes away.

ETA:

If you have the facilities, and ability to store fuel safely, here's what I got:

http://www.grainger.com/product/GRAINGER-APPROVED-Transport-Drum-5ERJ1?functionCode=P2IDP2PCP

The drum must be rated for Class I hazardous materials.

I also highly recommend grounding your fuel barrel properly.

I feel that I need to put that out there in case I sparked some curiosity...

Can Torrie tune for that and would you run a straight tank or mix it? It's pretty expensive haha.

I know Adam from MAP doesn't like to tune with it (I've asked it's in my area as well) he recommends the Race Gas Additive stuff. If Torrie can tune for it I'm sure it would have to be mixed.

Either way with 110. I would use it as an octane booster. If you are looking for a 94ish target octane 110 is WAY cheaper than using Race-Gas. RG is $30 a can. I'm sure 2.5 gallons of race gas isn't $30.

It's a little cheaper then RGA. 110 octane is $8.32 a gallon here in MD. Me personally I will just use RGA once in a while but mostly use 93 and E-30 when I go out looking for trouble lol.

All I have is 93. I don't have E-30 here.

We recommend that if you are trying to clean things out run a higher grade of fuel to your tank. That higher octane burns cleaner and slower VS your lower octane. Running a splash of a higher octane fuel will aid in cleaning out the system. For example, E85 or MS109 optimally. EcoBoosts are not made for any additives to be introduced into their systems. We have had many people call us asking us to rebuild their engines because their car keeps on killing injectors, plugs and fuel pumps. After a simple 5 minute conversation we figure out that they have been using fuel booster and/or fuel system cleaner. Your best bet like I said earlier is running a couple gallons of a higher octane than your normal fill up. The slower and cleaner burning fuel will breakdown most of your normal build-up cleaning out your system.
