Installed some lighting under the hood for evening or nighttime meets or shows. I was asked to post more about the install. It's fairly simple, but works really well.
I used lights just like these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191780316995
I tapped into two always hot fuses (10A) with a couple add-a-fuse taps. One is power to the switch for the relay coil and the other is power for the lights through the relay.
I mounted the Bosch style 30A relay under the radiator cover on the passenger side, using an existing bolt.
I mounted the switch to the radiator cover just above the relay. This was a leftover switch I had laying around, but it was purchased on ebay.
I mounted the lights to the hood on an angled part towards the front. Checked for clearance and all is good. I'm sure there are many other locations where they can be mounted.
Wiring is pretty straight forward. The switch controls the relay coil and I am using the normally open contacts. Power is sent to the lights through the relay. I ran my grounds to a factory ground location on the passenger side strut tower. If yall have any questions, let me know.
