Typical order time frame from start to finish

First time posting and signing up today. Brief history....trying to get away from BMW's after 10 years of being absolutely hooked. Always wanted a Mustang now is the time to start another period of addiction.

I've ordered several BMW's over the years and it seems the normal start to fininsh on delivery is around 6 weeks or so. Yes, you track it by code, etc. and suffer for a while but it's worth it. I was just looking at Order Tracking and it appears that most of you wait a hell of a lot longer than 6 weeks! Does anyone have an idea as to why? Hell it's Michigan not Munich.

Once I can get out of my 14 550i lease I will put in an order but how in the world does someone get a quick turnaround? The allocation game seems to be a bit of a mystery on when the actual order is put in to production. I know in the past I could moved up to Priority 1 and boom the next week Hans, Franz and the robots are going to town my ride but here it seems not the case.

Does anyone have any tricks or advise as to speed up the process? 12 weeks would put me 6 feet under. Patience...i have NONE!

Waiting is brutal but I like to punish myself. I just read the Ordering Basics sticky so that gives me a better sense of the process but why are some people waiting 1 - 2 months before the actual car gets on the assembly line. It seems there are various reasons beyond our control but to take 3 months or longer seems crazy to me. Any tricks or luck someone has had in the past? :frusty:

The right place and time is everything. I ordered mine near the end of the model year on April 9 from a very reputable dealer. 35 days later I took delivery.
