Hello everyone,
I have recently bought a mustang GT of carvana about 3 weeks ago. I got a great deal on my jeep wrangler which so i decided to get the mustang. It looks like the previous owner has already tuned it. How do I go about removing that tune so I can tune it different for my purposes without the tuner that it was married to in the first place?

Take it to your local ford dealership and have them reflash the stock tune.

First he has to make sure there are no other mods. If you have for example an intake that requires a tune, that will make the car undriveable until he gets a new one.

Most if not all tuners can flash right over another aftermarket tune. You don't need to return the tune back to stock for another tuner to flash the ECU. Just ask the tuner that you plan on going with if it's going to be an issue that the car is already tuned.

It has a jlt intake and looks like axle back exhaust. The axle back shouldnt really matter, but i already have a bama tuner with tunes from bama ready to be installed.

Then you can't go to a dealer and return it to stock tune otherwise it won't run. You'll need to install the stock intake back on before that.

You won't find much love for BAMA tunes here. IMO you're better off sticking with what you have unless it doesn't run well.

Why are you changing tunes?

Yup would recommend swapping to AED, Lund or PBD or sticking with existing tune unless there is something that you are currently not happy with.

Bama sure tuned up their shop Mustang very well back in the day and had it running good numbers in the 1/4 mile. It’s a shame to hear that customers aren’t happy with them nowadays. I ran their tunes N/A and nitrous on my 2013 GT with no issues. If memory serves me correctly, my car put down 411 rwhp/383 rwtq N/A and 519 rwhp/551 rwtq on nitrous.

I do recall hearing negative things about Bama way back then and at one point, reached out to Shaun at AED to see if he would take a look at my Bama data logs to see if the tune could be improved upon. To my surprise, Shaun came back at me with a crappy attitude and said he wasn’t going to spend his time going over my logs and that Bama essentially made good tunes. I was taken aback by Shaun’s response, after all, I wasn’t asking him to do the work for free. Hell, he stood the chance of making a new customer, putting more money in his pocket and possibly getting referrals off of me. Nonetheless, based on that brief interaction, I knew right away that I would never do business with AED.

I'll be 100% honest with you I ran the Bama tune on my mostly stock car for almost a year and had zero issues with it. Car ran great was snappy and got great gas mileage. The only reason I switched tuners is because Bama had trouble tuning after my mods. Which I had a feeling would happen. So I went with Ortiz tuning put of south Texas and am pleased so far.
